University of Miami Fall 2018 Transfer

I’ve heard that its usually easier for florida students to transfer

I’m not sure if that’s true because UM is a private university so I don’t think it matters too much but FIU is a popular school too and UM receives a lot of transfers from there.

I applied before to UM as a Florida student and was unfortunately rejected. I’m hoping they take that into consideration lol

They might especially if you excelled in college. That happened to a few friends of mine and they were accepted as a transfer student. Unfortunately I’m the opposite lol I was accepted and chose another school and want to transfer now

Yea i was rejected my first time applying as a senior in high school, now with a 3.6 gpa im hoping to get in.

UM is really selective with HS students. I was really an exceptional student and the only things that lacked were my SATs.
Now without my SATs in the picture, I’m sure I have a good chance. This past week for me has been nothing but bad news so I’m crossing my fingers.

I’m transferring from FIU too! @danielaperr21 honestly UM is just a more respected degree and that’s what I want, something that’ll definitely get me further.

I think the same thing!
I got deferred from NYU and never heard back. I got accepted to GWU, American, and Fordham but felt compelled to stay home. When UM rejected me I felt so lost, so I applied to FIU last minute and have been wanting to transfer.
FIU is a great school, I won’t lie but like you said, a UM degree is significantly more respectable. I hate to admit it but us with a UM degree puts us at more of an advantage than one from FIU.

I got accepted to NYU for this spring but I didn’t wanna leave the life I had here. I also got in to GWU but didn’t go either. UM is perfect because we can stay home with a better degree! @danielaperr21

Applied as a transfer from Miami Dade College w/ 60+ credits(AA). Really crossing my fingers as my GPA is not that high, but with my extracurricular & work experience(2+ years) I have hope that I’ll pull through.

I also have a feeling that admissions rejected me for Business School, but they are considering me for the College of Arts and Sciences. If that were to be the case, I’ll just change my major.

@Smdanc I’m also applying from BU to get away from deflation!

@linv17 Yes! Its the worst that and the cold, 'm really worried that my deflated GPA will hurt my chances

@linv17 I heard there is grade deflation at BU! Plus, the administration is terrible! When my son stayed in the freshman dorm for their 2-week camp with NO air conditioning (93%, high humidity) that was the last straw. He got sick and the admin wasn’t helpful at all. Best wishes.

can someone please answer this!!!
it says
“Parent 2015 Tax Transcript
DUE 03/12/2017
Requested
University of Miami
Financial Aid
Student Non-Filer Letter”

and i still don’t have it in but it says my application is complete. WILL THIS KEEP ME FROM GETTING IN?!?!?!?

No it will not. Mine was updated as well but IRS takes around 5-10 days to send it.
It’s the financial office requesting it, not the admissions

@tatidee123 let me know if you get accepted/ vice versa so we can keep in touch!
We seem to hve a lot in common haha! What’s your major? I’m journalism and communications; will declare my second major at UM.

I’m just waiting for the day someone posts “DECISIONS ARE OUT” cause I’m honestly on this about every 5 minutes going from each forum of the schools I’m applying as a transfer to just to see if anything new has changed

@AnalMom Yes very bad administration, I had no running water for 2-3 days and freezing cold water during the winter and a broken heater

Imagine! I check this all the time because I only applied to UM as a transfer! @mishk90
And yes for sure! I’m a psychology major but i’m planning on going to law school  @danielaperr21

@tatidee123 yes, I’m planning to go to law school too! I’m still deciding but I’ve been leaning towards it upon researching more on media law.

that’s good! I’ve been leaning towards business law. Do you plan on going to law school too at UM if you get in? Or going somewhere else? @danielaperr21
