@linv17 @Terror Yea I’m so anxious because i have a 3.2 at BU and i feel like that is low for them as a transfer gpa. Do you think they will consider the rigor of the school??
@bbm217 : I’m a freshman pre-med at UMiami. I’ll comment and say that in terms of science/pre-med courses, this school does quite a good job. It has fair grading practices (well Physics is hard) and for the most part preps you well for the MCAT (supposedly). It also has great PRISM and HPM programs (so you can see that it invests a lot in STEM).
However, UMiami business lags significantly in comparison to the rest of the University - particularly in comparison to sciences/social science fields. I’d probably look elsewhere if I were you imo… UMiami’s strengths and student body are geared more towards professional school rather than getting jobs. I’d go for a target business school if I were you (which has way better recruitment)
@Smdanc : you’ll get into UMiami dw, you’re GPA is fine especially coming from Boston University which is well reputed for deflation. Also you’ve probably taken rigorous courses like Biology and Chemistry which is taken into account
.
Hi everyone! My gpa is a 3.5! May be a 3.6 or .7 after this semester ends because I’ve been doing great this semester.
I’m a sophomore studying journalism and communications and my letter of recommendation comes from BBC Worldwide (Studios) where I had my internship this fall.
I’m hoping to get in and meet all other accepted students on this forum. This has been incredibly hectic and I need to know soon so I can withdraw from my current university (FIU)
How much do they take the midterm report into account?
@bbm217 I would assume it could definitely help you out a lot
@bbm217 but I don’t think it’s what they put the most weight on
I hope it counts cause I only had one B this semester and two B’s last. High school was a complete s… show for me so hopefully they see I did better
sooooo, let’s see what’re the chances of finding out today
@byrd98 I plan on trying out for the cheer team as well! It’s frustrating that we haven’t received decisions yet because I need to book a flight for tryouts which are only like 2 weeks away
@gapyearapplicant any professors you would recommend for physics or Ochem? If I go to UM this fall I have to take Physics and Ochem.
Just called and they told me that if you applied on March first you’re not hearing for another month to another month and a half. I don’t know what I am supposed to do about picking classes because I expected to have this decision by this month
@SDiaz18 Do you mean the application itself or the application and supporting documents.
I submitted my application on February 28, and my college report a little after. Everything else they had before I submitted my application.
I definitely got the email on Feb. 28 that they received my application.
@SDiaz18 When I called they said all applicants, regardless if you are priority or not, will hear by mid-April
To be fair they are one of the most headache-inducing admission offices I’ve had to deal with so it really wouldn’t surprise me
The admissions office is a mess!
When I called about my issue with the college report, everyone gave me a different answer and a lot of them were rude and apathetic about the whole situation. It wasn’t until I pulled the annoying “can I speak to the manager” line where everything seemed to be fine.
I’m really anxious about the priority deadline because my app was complete in january until they decided I was missing a document on March 9th.
I’m Norwegian and living in Norway, so I asked when I would here back from them on Facebook instead of calling (sooo expensive to call) and they said ‘‘Fall transfer decisions will be released on a rolling basis, starting in early to mid-April.’’
@norway97 I think ‘starting’ is the operative word here. They’ll drag it out if they can.
