University of Miami Fall 2018 Transfer

also, how does everyone figure out the rooming situation? i want to live on red road but it looks like its filled up…

@gigiiris whats up man! i’m in the same situation you are. I applied for the business school, was accepted with a presidents scholarship and have to take calc i before i can transfer into the business school. i called admissions, and they said as long as you get a B in Calc & maintain a 3.0 in your other classes you will be able to transfer into the business school.

@derrickh2 when i spoke on the phone with them they said it was not guaranteed that i would be able to get into the business school as an internal transfer because there are limited spots available. ugh. i think i will call again and see if i get a different answer lol

Really hope I find out today since I am registering at my current University.

if i dont have all my financial aid stuff in yet does that mean I won’t get any? someone pls :frowning:

anyone hear anything?

@kskowalski unfortunately no, how much longer they can keep us!! We need to register for class and if nor I have other universities that I need to register to secure a spot in classes! This is unfair of them tbh

Same I had to already register for classes at my current university and say that I would return to my job next year

@gigiiris the woman I spoke to didnt sound like she knew what she was talking about so i will probably call again early next week. although miami is my top choice, i dont want to get stuck out of the business school so i might have to look into other options!

@transfer1999 you will just not as much as you would get had you got it in before the priority deadline

@derrickh2 exactly. I can’t imagine going there and not ending up in the business school. I can’t have any other major. I wish there was something we could do to solidify it

Is Miami notoriously generous with financial aid? I received the President’s Scholarship ($15k/year) but haven’t heard back regarding my financial aid package.

@gigiiris I’m going to send an admission’s counselor an email on Monday so that I have a definitive written answer. My other schools have May 1 deadlines so I don’t have a lot of time to figure this out lol

@derrickh2 HA! UM is ridiculously stingy with financial aid. I live in Miami and UM is know for being a rich kid school. Of course it all depends on the student and his/her situation, take my comment with a grain of salt. I’m really hoping for some miracle with FA if I get in. But congrats on the scholarship! That’s amazing!

Do you guys know if its harder to transfer if I was previously accepted

i just want to hear back from one college… lol i hate waiting

no, if anything thatll help you and the mere fact that you go to BU (as a pre med) and got a 3.2 means youll most likely get in

If decisions dont come out this week i literally give up lol

same its almost May thats crazy but i have a feeling they will come out this week

@derrickh2 I received $30K grant from UM which is a lot in comparison to most people I have asked who also got accepted, I guess it depends on your financial situation.
