University of Michigan 2024 - Deferred Applicants

Hi, I am here to help as I understand as I was deferred two years ago. I have heard rumors that the next wave of admissions comes out tomorrow- February 28th before the University Spring Break (so that they don’t get calls over the break).

There are a couple ways that counselors are looking to ensure some last minute acceptances. These include:
-Ensuring that you email your territory counselor and ask three specific questions about a particular LSA/ SMTD/ Engineering program. Include asking them to connect you to specific teachers in the department you want to major in. Showing interest in internships is a good question to ask such as “What are the programs to help students get into internships” or “How does the university work to help the freshman experience”.

-Ensuring that you say that U of M is your #1 school. If applicable, include videos, photos, or music that describes your passions for U of M. These help you stand out.

-Lastly, I am unsure if this is true or not but it has been said that some counselors accept “donations”. These can come in the form of gift cards, or cash donations via venmo. It is more difficult to disguise these but I have heard in the past these have worked.
