CollegeParanoia…Here is a link to (one of) the Class of 2016 EA Acceptance threads.

If you’ve got a LOT of time, you can read through and see how and when the decisions were released last year. To save some time, the first 70 or so pages are filled with “I heard that” or “my friend knows someone in admissions”, etc. etc. Don’t buy into any of it. Every year people start rumors about when Admissions will start releasing decisions and then panic when the supposed release date/time passes with no activity.

Glancing through it looks like Dec 16th was when the first decisions started coming out, but that doesn’t mean the date will remain the same this year. If you read through the posts, you’ll also see that everyone tries to find a pattern in the decision releases; IS versus OOS, alphabetical by name, alphabetical by state, shoe size…whatever. There may be some trends (mostly acceptances on one day, mostly deferrals on another, etc.) but there aren’t any absolutes. I know it’s hard to be patient, and it’s hard not to freak out when others start receiving info and you maybe haven’t heard anything yet. It’s not a great process…but it is what it is and it’s probably not going to be any better this year.

Read through the thread and you’ll see what I mean. You can pretty much see all 7 stages in the grief process for some of the posters. Being forewarned is being forearmed, so at least you’ll know what to expect. Good Luck to you!!
