Having a College of Design student myself I would ask yourself if spending out of state tuition for a college is the best choice for Architecture. You have some great schools in Illinois known for Architecture, one of which is Univ. of IL - Urbana Champagne. My daughter was originally planning on Architecture and then found out about the Product Design program and switched right away before starting. Her goals were very similar for both and in hindsight is glad she made the decision she did seeing her roommate spend tons of late nights at the studio putting together projects.
Also, As a professional who works with a lot of architecture majors who had troubles finding architecture jobs and now work in construction, I’d also tell you to make sure it is what you are looking for, not just because you are good at drawing and are somewhat technical but not like engineering technical (that’s my daughter, lol) if you know what I mean. Hard to put that in words, but it’s so hard to choose majors as a high school student.
The u’s architecture program is great so don’t think I’m trying to discourage you but based on your stats I would say you are borderline getting in as the architecture students tend to be higher in the stats for the college of design. Know that there are a lot of options that might fit your needs.
