University of Wisconsin Early Action Fall 2024 Admissions

When the decisions come out, we can help each other and talk about what options our kids have

No, UTK. The background image on the portal main page changed to confetti and other “celebratory” items but changing back shortly later, there was an ID username that showed up for some people, some saw an update asking for 7th semester grades (defferals), if you signed up for USPS Informed Delivery you could see a package headed to your house from the University (admittance box) – all of this prior to decisions being posted.

I haven’t dug through last years threads too much, honestly. I think if we see anything it’ll probably be closer to this time next week. I was surprised at what we saw for both Purdue (portal changes a few days prior to decision release – we all though IT was testing the updates because they’d get rolled back after they happened) and UTK (super obvious tells a few days prior – celebratory background images showing up, USPS Informed Delivery showed packages coming to your house from the college, etc.). I didn’t see the #PSUBound for Penn State but I don’t check my sons email.

They sent out the delivery packages before posting results?! That is an efficient school. Based on the length of time between portal update and package at the 2 schools S24 has been admitted to, I’m assuming they updated the portal, took a vacation, and then started thinking about sending out packages.

Same! We have some admits from mid December that still haven’t sent anything in the physical mail.

Us too! DS had to log on and ASK for the Marquette letter to be sent!

My prediction is next Friday because it’s been the last Friday of January for the past 2 years. Maryland is the same (UMD site says “by 2/1”, but it is always the last day of January at 5pm for OOS). UIUC said 1/26 (which happens to be the last Friday in January). Could be a big day in our house
or a total non-event. As with everything in the process so far
how I think S24 will react will not be the way he actually reacts to the news.

FWIW UW Madison has released late on a Friday since before my oldest applied EA. My EA kid last year was notified late afternoon Jan 28. We were visiting campus that weekend for music auditions and we celebrated! I suspect it will be next Friday too.

Crossing fingers for everyone! My oldest graduated last year and is still in the area and had an AMAZING experience (high stat, OOS kid).

Michigan likely that day too (though we’ve been told to expect deferral)

They did! I actually saw the admit box on it’s way to our house a day or two prior to the announcements. If I recall correctly, the college was closing down for the holiday so they probably wanted to get them all out before the office shut down, but they probably didn’t anticipate hoards of parents, that clearly should’ve gone into investigative journalism as a career, finding out in advance.

Do schools still do this? Send them timed to arrive alongside the email/portal? Of the 5 acceptances we’ve received so far, only 1 has sent a physical package to date, and it was weeks after the actual acceptance date (and it was pretty meh as far as swag).

That’s the only one we’ve received. And it was impressive. A box with a UTK flag, a card that played the fight song when you opened it up, some water bottle/laptop stickers, and a couple of other things I don’t recall. Perfectly curated to post on social.

Oh that does sound nice!

I was impressed by MSU
the green package itself was a folded MSU flag (with appropriately placed glue dots, so that it could be pulled apart and be an intact flag) with the paperwork inside. What great packaging by a school that offers a major in Packaging. Very on brand.

Nice!

My DD mentioned that any school that sent her a hoodie would shoot higher on her list :joy:

No hoodies yet.

My S24 has received several T-shirts but no Hoodies yet.

I suspect my son would say the same. Anyone in admissions reading this? Hint hint!

My nephew got a nice scarf from Willamette, but they accept ~3000 kids vs the 30,000 that UW Madison does.

We also got the scarf from Willamette. I love it, looks like something they wore in the Harry Potter movies.

Michigan and Wisconsin both next Friday should make for an interesting 18th birthday for my daughter. Thankfully she has a couple options she is already in and happy with.

Well, either way there will be cake! :cake:
