<p>Northwestern only did that by increasing their ED admits substantially (and hence, artificially increasing yield by forcing their admits to come). Otherwise, their yield probably would have decreased. </p>
<p>Note that while NU’s yield has been increasing, their average test scores have been going down. They’re trying to stay at least a little competitive with their local rival in terms of admit rate, but in doing so, they’re just hurting the quality of their student body. It’s a perfect example of why Chicago should avoid ED like the plague.</p>
