Unofficial Transcript Trick

I just got into UMass Amherst, BS in Computer Science, with a Chancellors Award
But I’d trade that for a spot at RA at UW Seattle .-.

I got into Purdue without any scholarship :frowning:

@aerospace15 They don’t email them because they know the wait is what kills! It’s the stereotypical anxiety that comes along with waiting for a college letter that generations of scholars have gone through  Man I hate Sundays haha. Hopefully letters come out tomorrow :open_mouth:
@uwhusky1997 I have to agree with you bro, because those links are kind of newish, Or at least I never noticed them before? To put them on applicants pages then possibly deny them (hopefully not) does seem a bit cruel.

I’m starting to become more scared thinking about the amount of people that applied and the small amount of people that get gold letters…

Tomorrow!

@uwhusky1997 I just calculated the math based on the post regarding how many applicants were sent in, correct me If I’m wrong but If there were 36,528 applicants and 2/3 of the position is given to Instate, so that’s 24,352, and 6400 Is believed to be the amount of Freshman this year in Cohort, that’s approx. 26% chance of getting in! That seems way too unrealistic and for OOS Students that’s even less of a chance. It seems a bit unrealistic. Now what we know is that the School has had a 55% acceptance rate since 2013, So if you told me 12,176 Students got accepted but Only half will be attending due to other factors or opportunities that’s more believable. Now for an individuals chance It just goes without saying, UW considers so many factors a person with bad stats but amazing potential can get in… Have faith guys (:

Thank you for that! Have you gotten a letter yet? The wait is almost unbearable haha. I need to calm down and have confidence in my application as an individual, disregarding the estimated acceptance rates and what not

Unfortunately nothing yet! I’m from the Everett area so hopefully It comes sooner then later! Don’t worry bro our kind of persistence, patience and attitudes don’t go unnoticed hopefully we’ll be joining the #NewHuskies2015!

Wusawu, I think the breakdown would be approximately as follows:

36,528 total applicants:
11,278 resident; 25,250 nonresident
Total accepted: 16,500 (est.)

Assume, based on last few years, acceptance rate for resident: 65%
Number of residents accepted: 7,331
If residents are 2/3 of class of 6,400, or 4,224, resident yield is about 66%.

Based on above, can estimate nonresidents as follows:

Number of nonresidents accepted: 9,169
Est. acceptance rate for all nonresidents (OOS and international): 36%
Number of nonresidents accepted: 9,169
If nonresidents are 1/3 of class of 6,400, or 2,176, nonresident yield is about 24%.

@UWfromCAā€Œ nonresident acceptance rate is about 36%? And it’s probably even lower this year. Now I’m super worried

36% would be worst case scenario for this year, dropping from last year’s 48% because of ~20% increase in nonresident applications this year. Perhaps they will admit more (10,000) and expect a slightly lower yield, so that the nonresident admission rate is around 40%.

All of these estimated percentages are good to know, thanks for taking the time to inform us

@UWfromCAā€Œ I agree with @uwhusky1997ā€Œ , you are so helpful!! And I’m from California too which is awesome

Has there been any rejection letters yet? I’m wondering if they are sent later or at the same time

@uwhusky1997 I’m curious about this too

A nice way for CA residents to gauge their chances of acceptance is to see what UC’s they’ve already gotten into. If you’ve gotten into UC Davis or above, you’re most likely in. If you’re currently deciding between UCI and UCSB, you will probably get in as well. If you’ve only received a welcome packet from UCSC or below, then I’d consider myself a little borderline.

Best of luck!

so no one’s unofficial transcript link has been loading right?? mine isn’t loading and just went to ā€œthe page cannot be displayedā€. I think my stats are pretty up to par but i rushed a reaaally crappy essay so I’m worried as hell. also, has anyone outside of seattle received their letters yet?

@Coriander23ā€Œ I’m a OSS and waitlisted by UC Davis for Mechanical Engineering. Thoughts? And I’m from NY.

Does anyone know how many people typically get waitlisted?
