I would take classes during the WInter! I am in your same boat trying to transfer to UCLA in one year. I am currently taking 6 classes at my four-year and 2 at my CC. I am planning on taking at least one in the Winter at a CC that offers the intersession and then am finishing up my last semester at my original CC. If you only have two social science classes left, I definitely think you can still transfer in one year.
