Until proven innocent ... and perhaps not even then

“Exactly. I can deal with the new world as it’s come to be … but I worry about young people who have known no other”

This is exactly what our own parents worried about. The only constant between generations is change.

But for me the bottom line in airport security is that we will always be behind the 8 ball. That will never change. The government really does not have the ability to protect its citizens at all times. Just as we as parent do not have the ability to protect our children at all times. Just because we follow the rules, does not mean the outcomes will not be horrific. For the many parents who have sent their children out of the house in a “safe” car, with a seatbelt on, and then had said child killed by a drunk driver, they know this reality. Blown up planes, biological attacks on a subway…more than likely rare, but possible. A simple fact of life. No matter how much the government wants to stop all of this, it is simply not possible.

I think fear-mongering is more of a threat to the American way of life than an actual terrorist. Personally, I worry more about drunk drivers than terrorists.

LOL. Lesson learned. Bring amazing protective ziploc bags next trip. Quart size, is that right? This was the Hartford, Connecticut airport. They just gave me a you gotta be kidding me look when I asked if they had any ziploc bags available for such situations – I thought I’d better not push it!
