Baptists are Protestants. I think the callout was that the National Cathedral is Episcopal. Anyway, Carter was not the only former president of a different denomination to have a state funeral there; Reagan and Eisenhower were Presbyterian. The church’s capacity vs alternative venues likely came into play.
