Our first son was born at 12:10 am and my husband had to be on site to supervise a concrete pour at a naval air station at 4:00 am.
I had the local news station filming me and the baby when S22 was two hours old due to my husbandâs position at the time. I was trying to get my hair in place and find some lipstick. I think I was still in the awful hospital gown.
Suicide. How sad.
So very tragic. He was a former hostage negotiator in Iraq, which is a profession that would be very stressful, to say the least, not to mention very uncommon for anyone, much less the royal circles.
I also wondered why they had no children; couples who marry later in life tend to have kids immediately. Obviously that can be for a variety of reasons, but still I thought about it.
When no explanation is given, itâs almost always suicide.
I have noticed in our local obits that no explanation is given anymore for any cause.
Thatâs odd, I havenât seen that.
But isnât that up to the family? Since you pay for the obit, the family is the one writing. I do feel like if a youngish person has battled cancer, that is usually included in the obit in some manner.
But silence is also telling.
I thought it was telling- but really about 90 % say nothing about cause. Odd, Isnât it? I noticed this in the last few years. Maybe itâs just regional.
I probably need to do a better job looking at the daily obits. Once you stop getting a physical newspaper, you really do miss out on some things. It seems if an obit isnât posted on facebook by a relative, I donât see it.
A lot of people here donât send them to the newspaper anymore. Itâs very pricey. And that may be one reason they donât list cause of death. The shorter, the less expensive. It seems we talk about who died every day at work. Small town. Everybody knows somebody who knows somebody, and one of us - their spouse works at one of the big funeral homes. She said that nowadays some of the long detailed obits cost $1000 to run. Easier to just have it posted on the funeral homeâs website.
And yes, Iâve noticed fewer people writing cause of death in the obituaries around these parts as well. Could very well be cost⊠but also it seemed to happen more around covid. I wondered if people didnât want that to be listed.
Please move on from discussing obituaries on this thread or start a new thread. Thank you!
This is my thought as well.
I donât think itâs plastic surgery of any kind, as she is already thin and pretty (people on the socials are speculating tummy tuck or face lift). If it was a tummy tuck, she would be back to public appearances by now (sheâd have to wear a binder for a while but no one would see it.) I also canât see the royal family condoning plastic surgery by one of their main royals - it just doesnât seem to fit their brand.
If itâs something dire, I could see them trying to hide it only because King Charles is battling cancer (and again, the British social media is speculating that his cancer is terminal) and they donât want the perception of a âweaknessâ in the monarchy with two top royals having serious medical issues.
Sheâs entitled to a recovery period (although some Britons will disagree) but certainly some proof of life would quiet the gossip - itâs puzzling why they wonât just do that, if she is in fact, okay.
Because itâs also not in their brand to pander to the lowest common denominator. The fact that they released a subsequent statement is more than they usually do.
Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princessâ recovery and weâd only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands.
Okay⊠I have no skin in this game, and Iâm not a royal-watcher at all, but Iâll throw in my hypothesis. And my hypothesis comes from watching H go through âabdominal surgeryâ in 2012.
It could be that she has a GI issue, like Crohnâs or UC, and underwent surgery for that, which left her with an (presumably temporary, but you never know) ostomy? I can totally see that, and also totally see how she would want to avoid public appearances until that was resolved. Especially given her body type and clothing style, which really donât allow room to cover up the ostomy appliance. And, I also can totally see how she would want to keep this private.
Thatâs my guess.
Excellent hypothesis, IMO.
The New York Times editor while casually perusing CC spits out his coffee at the notion that they are the lowest common denominator.
I recall no NYT article demanding proof of life. But feel free to post that link.
I think there was another one also. No one said the NYT is demanding proof of life. Although maybe they have!
I think the bottom feeders of journalism are coming up with wildly speculative stories, seen all over TikTok, Instagram and FB. Unfortunately, it is a pitfall of the onset of social media, that wild stories will circulate unless you control the narrative. Then the social mediaâs stories are picked up by bigger operations.
Yup, thatâs what I was thinking, too. My FIL went through a temporary ostomy and it was a several month process. When the media looks for ear pieces and recording devices under Meghanâs clothing, itâs so utterly intrusive that I can see not wanting to be in public until all is well. We all know the scrutiny Catherine will face the first time she appears. Donât envy her at all in that regard.
