greek life would probably work, a school is probably too broad

think about the communities you’ve joined in high school

clubs are cool, academic or sports extracurriculars are cool, but you wouldn’t necessarily talk about your entire grade or entire school population…

Since I’m applying to SEAS, anyone think it would be okay to talk about SEAS and then go into more specific details about community service/clubs/activities that tie into engineering?

i think that would be fine…
i was gonna do a school too…it just depends on how you sell it.

im confused on this essay to and its quite difficult for me cause im not american and i don’t want to make reference to internet supply

a college rep from UPenn came to our school a few weeks ago. Apparently the Ben Franklin essay is just another variation of the “Why Penn” one.

“Which of the academic communities and social communities that now comprise the University of Pennsylvania are most interesting to you and how will you contribute to them and to the larger Penn community?”

Which of them /are/ most interesting to you? it seems they’re asking you to choose more than one. When it says “academic communities /and/ social communties,” it means you can pick amongst both academic and social communities. and then the “are” means you should pick more than one, though I’m not sure if that’s how they intended it.

“…and how will you contribute to them and to the larger Penn community?” Here it’s asking you to tie things in to the whole Penn community.

I think the way snowysquirrels clarified it is correct - at least I hope so. If I am applying Undecided, what academic communities would I talk about? Ones that I am interested in? How can I passionately describe how I would contribute if I am unsure in the first place? I have emailed admissions regarding the academic/social communities question we all seem to be having difficulty with. I will post their response once I get it.

"We leave the interpretation of all of the essays entirely up to you. Please address the topic in the way that you feel is the most appropriate.

Regards,
