I’m curious. What made you want to apply to a school in Canada (for those who live in US) when we have so many great universities here in the US?
For some it is cheaper than many top US schools if full pay. Others may want to get out of their comfort zone and experience a different country and culture. That is especially true for Quebec.
For us it’s a financial decision and a safety admission.
My son only wants a school that’s large and in a big city.
He has great stats, but that still only gives him a 5-10% at a lot of the most financially generous US universities.
But at McGill the likelihood of him getting in with those stats was good.
And if he gets the most generous scholarship it will be more affordable than many schools in the US.
That’s what made us apply.
My daughter received an acceptance for engineering last week (us)
I was wondering if McGill takes rigor of high school into account? I attend a top prep school in New England and am worried that my B+ and B in accelerated math my freshman/sophomore year will ruin my chances despite an A+ in AP Calc AB, A- in AP Physics 1 and AP Physics C Mechanics, 4’s on AB Calc and Physics 1 exams, and a 740 math SAT. Do I have a shot at the BSc despite technically having some lower grades than their minumums in the hardest classes at my school?
We received an email four days ago with admittance for our daughter to the business program. Her original application was in November, but the requested first semester grades weren’t available for us until last week and we uploaded it right after.
Hi, I haven’t gotten a request for first-semester grades yet, although they are already available. I’m applying to Bioengineering and BSc Biol, Biomed & Life Sci. My status on both applications is still Further Review Required after a clarification request about my dual enrolment that I sent in and was received back in December. Should I have already gotten the request? Have they just not gotten back to my application?
S24 is still waiting for a decision although he didn’t apply until mid December so it hasn’t been that long. He just uploaded his mid-year grades last week so there is that as well.
I would send your 1st semester grades and see if your status change.
If nothing changes then call or email Service Point. They are usually pretty helpful but are opened only 10am-3pm.
Thank you! As suggested, I requested my counselor send McGill my midyear transcript. I also emailed Service Point to ask, so I’ll see if they get back to me after a few working days have passed. It’s hard for me to call them during school hours.
daughter got into arts. no email. 33 act. 3,8
