cause if what you posted are right, then you absolutely molested that test. damn if i had gotten some sleep the night before and not been so nervous, i woulda kicked ass too. maybe ill see you at USABO if i get through.

everybody post your score once they come in.

Wow… pea_sea04, I’m amazed at your recall of that many questions. Haha, I logged on to post the handful that I remembered, but you already had those covered and a whole lot more too.

i don’t have all of the ones i posted right. i remembered the right answer in damned retrospect. i think i got about 2 right for every one wrong.

yeah of the ones posted im about 2 right for every one wrong but thats not even very good. im pretty upset cause i have the same thing as pea sea- in retrospect, i knew every damn answer on that whole test. for me it was nerves and not enough sleep but given on any other day and i wouldnt even be second guessing myself. i did well on the ecology/evolution questions, but the oddball questions screwed me over

lol yeah thats cause i ditched mine! lol, yeah ive contributed a lot of this thread though :). lol, yeah 45/50 is pretty amazing…im sure they had some kind of help, the questions are TOO out there to get that many right. i wonder how the USABO Open Exam questions compare to the IBO Theoretical Exams?

hehe, the lowest score was a 2. you could get a higher score if you guessed on all of them. i think his problem was that he actually used his brain.

there was one question that really stumped me.

the vertebrae column is (blank) to chordates and (blank) to vertebrates
homologous, analogous
analogous, homologous
primitive, derived
derived, primitive

does anyone know the answer? or even what they’re asking?

Okay, so subphylum Vertebrata has a vertebral column. all members of vertebrata have it. not ALL members of chordata, however, have it. since this vertebral column of sorts is UNIQUE to vertebrata, it is a derived character. since only the vertebrata portion of chordata has the vertebral column, the vertebral column is primitive to chordata. so yes, primitive, derived is the correct answer. i finally get a few right. damn. im sticking to this one. lol
