<li><p>Why are you asking me to write this letter - I would like to know in what way you think I have gotten to know you (compared to other professors), etc. - which aspects of can I assess and why? Also, why would specifically my opinion count with regard to the application for the school? Answering this question would really help me in writing this letter. Also, please take into consideration that I have not known you for a long time. In this regard, I may not be the best person to write this letter. Or am I? It is up to you to explain this!</p></li>
<li><p>Also, should you want me to write the letter, I would like you to first write a draft recommendation for yourself (yes, this sounds weird, but it is actually a helpful model!).</p></li>
