USC 2010 Transfer Thread

then that is very strange that your efc is super low.

It’s because my mother’s income is very low, but she owns 100% of her business, which is why she owns buildings and her house, since the business purchased it. So technically the only reason why she owns everything is because her business bought it under her name.

I know for a fact that my mom won’t be able to pay for USC if I don’t get any financial aid, so I was wondering how much does the USC EFC increase compared to FAFSA EFC? because my FAFSA EFC is just based on her low income… but if USC is looking into her assets does that mean that it will be a significant increase?

and you’re sure she OWNS and the business does not rent, make payments, or anything on the buildings and she OWNS and makes no payments on her house?

yes, i’m sure. her business is very old fashion… her company doesn’t like to make payments so they purchase everything. She purchased her house over 26 years ago, and I double checked that her company already finished making any payments they had so technically i think she owns everything? But her income is still very low, she is a single mother supporting two kids in college

well Im not quite sure then; seeing that a house is a HUGE asset and a building is an even bigger one.

Hey guys!

Do grades also transfer? I heard that GPA becomes ‘0’ after you transfer and start over, but what about the grades? Do they just disappear? Do the grades from CC matter when it comes to a graduate school or first career?

@MinKim7777 - Your gpa starts over when you transfer to usc. Your CC gpa is only utilized when they calculate your cumulative gpa for graduation honors at USC which is explained on their website. Overall cumulative gpa also matters sometimes for grad school e.g. law schools like to see your overal cumulative gpa.

does anyone know if an EFC of 11299 is too high for any financial aid from USC?

hi everyone so i just found this website and having been reading through it and figured this was a good place to ask a question… so here it is
i was forwarded to the committee on tuesday and acted on yesterday… and some people seem to have deposit boxes on usc connect… so the question is does anyone know how soon after acted on does that box normally appear?

@coralgirl23 my deposit box didn’t show up until two days after i got my acceptance letter!

by the way guys, I went to go visit gateway yesterday! It is really nice but it was kind of disappointing because the rooms are a lottt smaller than I expected. Still think i’m going to stay there though!

oh wow! ok i though it was supposed to be there right away… im a little more relieved now… would it be just a coincidence that FA also sent me an email on the same day asking me for W-2’s

mine is still on forwarded…
anyone know if they reject you at last is the status even gonna change?

@kielyy
same here

@ilovemtsac when you take into account that everything you see in the room is already there, it is not that small. plus, no deposit and so many other beenfits.

@coralgirl23 you were supposed to turn in your w2’s before hand

@ Skylineismine - Nah, I wish I was only $3000 short. It’s more like $15-20k a year short. The only FA I received was $3000 in subsidized loans and $3000 in unsubsidized loans. Somehow my family’s EFC is almost $50k, even though we’ve had to draw on home equity and deplete my savings just to pay the tuition at a much cheaper school.

@skyline I would call FA before making any decisions. they are usually very, very helpful.

ballamalla1, no, your EFC isn’t too high to receive aid, based on that number.

My USC EFC is four times my FAFSA EFC. I really don’t think I’ll be able afford USC. :-/
