USC 2010 Transfer Thread

I don’t know what it is about today but I am running out of patience. I am refreshing CC like crazy and checking all of my admission status pages. I just want to know!

yeah that is what i thought, it certainly can’t hurt.

AMorrison-I know it sucks, but we still have a loooonnnggg way to go.

Yes indeed. Last year I didn’t hear about my admission until July! Painful.

do you guys plan to have a car once your there?

dude i want one but it depends on whether if my parent will let me have one  my dad said there MIGHT be a chance if i work for his business in the summer -_- mon-sat woohoo!!! lol

Heck yes I’m going to have a car. Especially since I’m going to be living off-campus (boo). I already have a job come august so I’ll have to be able to get from here to there… plus not having a car in LA sucks. Public transportation in LA is the worst.

I will for sure! I’m so use to having my car I dont know what it would be like without it!!

So being that I am a clean freak, I really don’t want to live in dormish places, but I want the social atmosphere.

What have you guys heard of Tuscany housing? It looks pretty from the ouside lol & caters to late night Chipotle cravings. Buut heard lotsa freshmen, no biggie, but I get irritated at immaturities.

Or the other Westar housing looks good, like Chez Ronnee or Habitat, but pretty pricy. Or am I just fooled by pretty photos?

Recc going independent housing? Don’t want to be far away from campus at all tho.

Just wondering what everyone else is planning on doing when (if*) IT happens.

joliefillie- I LOVE Tuscany, I was looking at the Tuscany website and the apartment complex looks really nice, and I just fell in love with the whole atmosphere. Chipotle is definitely a plus. I would love to live in Tuscany if I go to USC,but I would just have to see the whole roommate situation, and make sure that its not too pricey for me. I haven’t really looked at any other apartment complexes, it is still kind of early and I don’t want to jinx anything!!
zach-yeah, i’m planning to have a car, I don’t want to have to deal with public transportation in LA, like daisy mentioned, public transportation in LA is definitely the worst.

OK now im definitely gonna beg my dad for a freakin car. :D

re: housing questions.

Please join the [College Confidential USC Transfers 2010 | Facebook Group](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook) where we got a housing for transfers discussion going with a BUNCH of housing links to investigate. Please contribute any links you have that aren’t already listed too :)

if we get our decisions in july (for people with an SGR), when do we receive our financial aid package?

My friend who goes to USC lives in tuscany right now. I’ve been there a lot of times already and the place is pretty nice. The chipotle is a big plus lol. However, i think the apartments there are pricey. Well, as far as i can remember with what my friend told me.

And i would definitely be bringing a car with me. There’s no way im surviving LA without one!

hey everybody! i was wondering if there were any status updates for any of you. my status on OASIS has been the standard “We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.” for a while now.

does anyone know when/to what this update is supposed to change?

and am i the only one who is bummed about not having the chance to dorm as a freshman transfer? :-[

@veggie- I’m kind of bummed! But, realistically, I’m also 24-years old, so I would be too old for dorms anyhow. But I’m moving from NC and the dorm atmosphere would be a great way to meet people, so I’m sad that I’ll miss out on that opportunity.

Tuscany looks awesome! Pricy, but awesome. Do they rent out by the room?

I’m really looking to find a good roommate(s) who goes to USC as well. I don’t want to live by myself!

@veggie: This is the general flow, with the second update coming late April. Since you’re a freshman transfer the chances are greater you will get an SGR. That update comes between the First and Second (still late April) and is something like “We’ve sent you a request for information via mail, please reply by June 30”.

FIRST: We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.

SECOND: Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by June 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning June 11th.

THIRD: The committee has acted on your application, and we have mailed notice of the decision. If for some reason you do not receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results this over the phone beginning June 11th

Do freshman transfers ever get accepted without SGRs?

@veggiechips yo im a freshman transfer too and my status is the same lol  i think were going to have to wait a bit longer like what AMorrison said

^only if u have over 30 units completed on ur transcript (or from APs) and/or if ur high school grades were stellar
