USC 2011 Transfer Thread

That is probably the standard message after your file is complete, regardless whether you are freshman or transfer applicant

for sure thanks snizzle77, does anyone know if letters of rec help?

I had the freshman status too, and mine changed to “being reviewed” several days ago. I don’t think that has much relevance to why the status changed. They obviously can’t review everyone’s app at the same time, so they probably just change them in batches.

According to the last year’s thread,

1) “We have received your application…” - The admissions received your application.
2) “We are reviewing your application…” - The admissions are making sure your file is complete.
3) “Your application has been forwarded for committee review” - The admissions sent your application to your division for them to decide whether you’re admitted or not.
4) “The committee has acted upon your application, and we have mailed notice of the decision.” - The decision was made and sent to you.

If it’s true, “We are reviewing your application” status does not mean that they are actually making your admission decision. And as Mitch said before, it seems that the faster the turn-around from 3) to 4) is, the better your chances are to get in.

I know the status is not entirely accurate but still hope my status will change in the next batch!

@snizzle and whisper and anyone else w/ the freshman status

i think we’ll see a change after April 1st for sure :)

I’m just curious, did you guys leave the Test Scores of the App blank. I took the SAT a while back. Because we are transfer students we don’t have to report the Test Scores right? I just left that blank. Thanks :)

@julianne:

Nevermind, forget what I said about the statuses :smiley: hadn’t heard of anyone’s freshmen status changing.

@hyethga4lyfe:

Seems like that’ll be the case ;)

@Dukenukem:

Yup, I just left them blank. If you have over 30 units, you don’t need to put the test scores, since they don’t refer to high school stuff. The only reason we had to send them our high school transcript was to verify that we had graduated.

I put my test scores in but didn’t send an official copy since I’m way over 30 credits

@Hon3ytea & MitchAPalooza- np guys, sorry I haven’t been on here in days…wow, that’s a new one for me, lol! I was really starting to get addicted to this site, lol, but I’ve been SOO buried in homework for the last few days I haven’t had time for anything else (maybe that’s a good thing). :wink: It is pretty amusing to come back after only two or three days and see that there are like seven new pages of posts! Hahaha this is clearly killing all of us. ;)

To answer your question, Hon3ytea, my status is STILL at “we have received everything but for some reason keep referring to you as a freshman applicant and blah blah something about midyear grades, which doesn’t even make sense for a transfer…” Again, I’m sure it doesn’t mean anything! I’m glad to hear that some of you have found out that they’re finally reviewing transfer apps, though! Last time I called I was told they hadn’t even touched them yet, and that was only like…a week ago? Something like that… So, it feels like we’re getting closer!!!

:)

Ok,now I’m not freaking out because of the freshmen status but of nerves !!! I really want to know soon what is going to happen to my future !!!

@ jamesbball911 : i’m taking the accounting series next year since this year the classes were filled up pretty quickly. By the time i finish those two courses (which is around this time of next year), the admission deadline is already over. I wonder if i get a chance to receive spring grade request?

@ MitchAPalooza : Apparently, there’re two business calculus courses at UC. I took my first class at a CC and my second one at UC. Should I send them both to USC or just send the 2nd one since it goes w/ my college transcript?

I did well on the first course (have an A) but on the 2nd one, B-, since it wasnt technically business calc but Calc for engineering student and my teacher was the worst one in the entire campus. I’m so depressed.

@moniso: then just till June 1. That’s when you’ll receive your admission’s decision.

Attempting to transfer to marshall this Fall. 3.6 all prereqs done but have already gotten rejected from calpoly and sdsu so im thinking admittance is not likely. I also have the freshmen status, but I also had the incomplete app status for 2 months after they confirmed receiving everything so I wouldn’t look too much into it.

You’re required to send all transcripts of previous institutions you have attended. Universities use a clearing house to verify this information.

Did you apply this year?

YYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

Status change! [url=<a href=“Händel Messiah - Hallelujah Chorus - YouTube”>Händel Messiah - Hallelujah Chorus - YouTube]YouTube - H

@coolio … lmaooo! i cracked up when i opened the link … congrats on the change :)

i have the freshman status too, im glad to know that some other people have that because ive been stressing about it

Hey guys I was thinking we should start something like what they did on last years thread because I found it really useful when comparing status changes, acceptances, etc. So when you get a status change just copy and paste with your name, date of change, and major like so: (BrianLee 4/8/10)- CLAS: Sociology. If you have a status that isn’t listed add it to the list!

You application has been forwarded for committee review.

We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by June 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning June 11th.

The committee has acted on your application, and we have mailed notice of the decision. If for some reason you do not receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results this over the phone beginning June 11th.

We have requested your spring term grades. We mailed you specific instructions on how to submit your grades for expedited processing. We hope to receive the grades before June 30. We expect you will be notified of our final decision by mid-July.

@hythega…I don’t even care if I get in anymore. I’m just glad I don’t have to see that God-forsaken “we have received your application” status anymore. I’m free!

I have yet to receive a status update as well. I keep telling myself everything will be okay, but the process is pretty suspenseful…
I am also trying to transfer into Marshall and recently went through a long process to add SPPD as my second major (added after my application was submitted).

When do you guys feel the rest of us will receive updates?

@ MitchAPalooza: i applied this year and i forgot to send my calc I transcript.

I’ll request an official transcript now just in case i need it for next year.

The problem is i never actually went to a CC, it’s just my calc teacher in high school was also a teacher at a CC and the two schools have a program which allows students who take calc by that teacher in high school to earn college credit for that class. That’s why i was skeptical about sending that transcript to USC.
