USC Admissions Appeal Statistics (2008 - 2012)

<p>Following are the figures for the appeals and successful appeals to Fall and Spring. I got these numbers from performing a search of “admission appeal” in usc.edu. </p>

<p>The page for the year 2011-2012 is:</p>

<p>We are still missing the stat. for the most recent school year (2012-2013). We should know the official numbers when they send out rejection letters for the new school year (2013 - 2014).</p>

<p>Very interesting information. Everyone seems to expect that this years number was higher. As well as the number of initial spring admits bumped to fall. With so many applicants applying to so many schools, the number accepting admission offers is a moving target.</p>

<p>I did a calculation before (posted in another thread), I think there is a total of 177 successful appeals for the year 2012-2013.</p>

<p>Looking at the stats, there are 9558 total admits (46030 - 36472), 8381 Fall 2012 admits. This means 1177 Spring 2013 or appeal admits. On the official acceptance date, they said there were 1000 Spring 2013 admits, this means 177 successful appeals with 1000 total appeals.</p>

<p>Thus, the appeal success rate is 17.7% for this year.</p>

<p>I may be wrong, just guessing from the numbers.</p>

<p>I am guessing that 1177 includes the original Spring 2013 admits and all appeals admits.</p>

<p>Again all these are just guesses, I don’t know whether they include the appeals numbers or not. But, somehow I think all the numbers are in that stats.</p>

<p>Somethings that we do not know for sure – there are exactly 1000 original Spring 2013 admits, and exactly 1000 appeals. These are the assumptions in the calculations.</p>
