USC as a CC top university

ladies and gentlemen, this is a sad day for squirrels, for they are not U.S. citizens and, therefore, not eligible for financial aid from USC so they are unable to attend.

Football not included ;)

and darnit, that’s what counts. when i interview for my first job, i’m gonna make sure my boss knows how good the football team was.

Well, to be fair, if he’s a USC fan and USC had a good season, it can’t hurt.

The Halo Effect is surprisingly powerful. (Ha, something put to use from my Business classes!)

UCLAri, as a CC mod would you be willing to approach whoever is in charge at CC to move us to the CC Top Universities list on behalf of us members, as soon as they get their server problems straightened?

I’ll bring it up.

Uh… U Mich vs. USC:

Yes, U Mich’s academics and rank are better, but the trojan family alumni network is more powerful and stronger. Especially the Marshall school of business. (in my opinion ;))

USC’s Location is better too. You’ll easily get way more opportunities for jobs and internships living in the heart of Los Angeles than… Ann Arbor.

Just a personal biase… I’ve visit both USC’s campus and U Mich’s.

stressed0ut,

I realize that you inserted that ever so powerful caveat (“in my opinion”), but do you have any evidence for this? From what I’ve observed of Michigan students, their alumni networking is quite good.

Maybe. Would you pick USC over Yale despite the fact that Yale is in a less vibrant area?

NO because USC and U Mich’s are almost about the same rank-wise

USC and YALE are NOT. One’s an ivy, another is top 25

You can’t compare apples to oranges.

I don’t necessarily see “Ivy” as being a definite mark of comparative quality. I’d pit Stanford, MIT, Duke, and many others against the uber Ivies anyday.

But that wasn’t really my point. Location matters, but it’s not tantamount. Especially considering that Michigan has the better b-school…

if CC does their rankings by US News rankings, then i say don’t change the board from where it’s at. too much confusion and speculation as to who is best. if it were based on number of posts or hits, then i could see how it would fit into that category.

Well, the issue is that the forum groupings are based on outdated US News rankings from 4 years ago.

The CC admin told me their selection of CC top universities was completely arbitrary and has never been updated.

It’s not completely arbitary as outlined in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=169289

I’m going to have to ask that everyone basically just read that thread and we’ll call this a dead horse.

And you know what they say about dead horses.

keep beating it?

[Yes. Exactly.](http://www.bittermancircle.com/my%20images/BeatDeadHorse.gif)

kick Sorry, horsey.

Or, if it is to appease some folk, maybe CC could have a popular unis section (USC, Tufts, NYU, Bob Jones etc.)?
