USC Class of 2022

My son finally made his decision…FIGHT ON!

He is psyched! As am I.

Thank for all the help @CADREAMIN, @WWWard and everyone else.

@green26knight - Congratulations, and Fight On!

@green26knight - Welcome to the Trojan Family! Woohoooo and well before May 1st (sort of).

Refresh my memory - what is your S’s major? STEM of some kind, right? I have/had students at three different schools at USC - I think I can recite the course catalogue. Not really, but they have all done very different things, that’s for sure. And the opportunities they have had and are still having - wow, it has truly been great for mine. Hope it is just as wonderful for you too!

@green26knight congrats! and you’re welcome

Thank you! I’m assuming with the high yield rate for SCA there is not a big chance but we’ll wait and see. Right now we’re waiting for a financial aid decision from AUP (Paris). She’s excited about the prospect of going overseas so either she will be fine. The housing is what worries me the most for January but I suppose it’s just one semester.

Im just kinda ticked that ppl from my school who have explicitly stated they wouldnt attend USC still applied, got in, and disregard it as one of their college choices while taking peoples spots.

USC and Viturbi for my D. Decision made! Fight On!

Finally committed! I can’t wait to meet all of you this fall! After a long application process and financial aid appeal, this is really a relief! Thanks for all the advice and support along the way! Fight on!

Hello! I originally signed up for the Orientation on June 7-8 as I wanted to register for classes as early as possible. However, a possible schedule conflict recently came up and going to the June 19-20 one may be a better option. However, I’m wondering if I should be worried about certain courses I want to take being full at that time already? By the way, I will be majoring in Communications with Annenberg!

Anyone else apply for TO and FSH? Worried this might be TOO much.

My daughter has been teasing me, for good reason. Viterbi! And now I know that typos can only be fixed within 20 minutes!

@hannahmars18 My understanding is that spots are spread across all the orientation dates so you don’t have to go to the first one to get classes. My daughter will be at the June 19-20 orientation and she is very excited!

Besides classes being spread out with spots saved for each orientation like @TreeAlum said, as a freshman, you have so many classes to take that there is going to be plenty of options that work.

@Notthehospital I was not familiar with Viterbi before my son applied and probably would have been creative with my spelling. I certainly had never heard of the Viterbi algorithm for which Viterbi is known.

@notthehospital Don’t feel bad, I had a hard time saying it right for the longest time and it drove my son crazy. I kept saying Vitter-bee. Instead of Vi-tur-bee. :-S

@hannahmars18 My son is also attending the orientation 6/19 and 6/20 (and the whole family is joining him!). And we’ll also be there this weekend for Saturday’s admit day. Looking forward to another weekend getting to know the campus.

@CADREAMIN he’ll be a physics major in Dornsife.

heeey
im from Russia too
omg finally i had found someone from there

DECISION(S) COMPLETE!! Our son will be a Trojan, but… not for another year… as he was accepted to do a fully paid gap year language/cultural study program in Beijing China for the 2018-19 school year (www.nsliforyouth.org). He will go to USC Fall 2019, and major in Biomedical Engineering. BTW, he received from USC Presidential, Viterbi $10k/yr, and University $2k/yr scholarships, as well as a small $1k/yr NMF corporate scholarship from my company. We had hoped to get bumped up to Trustee but alas no such luck. We still are grateful and feel blessed. He had other options, some of which also included merit $$$ (UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, Johns Hopkins, Ga Tech, etc.) but really felt most at home and liked what USC had to offer (not just the $$). …also nice to be close to home after being in China for 9 months! :sunglasses: Good luck to everyone moving forward! We can kinda breathe a bit now…until he heads out to China… Thanks to those on this board that provided information and advice. Fight On!

Congrats @kevbostic ! NISLI is a great program!!! Wow!
