They do that for legacy. They will lay out the coursework and grades needed to transfer

@WWWard @CADREAMIN I got into the CS Viterbi program w/ spring admit as well - any insight to how generous they are with financial aid and merit because I wasn’t admitted for fall? This is my dream school and I will go as long as it’s affordable (Also, how generous is USC with financial aid overall?)
Accepted!
Thornton School of Music, Jazz Performance major.
@Kikuchiyo3 Wow. Congrats.
@repaul Congrats. It will make zero difference. From our perspective, USC has been very generous with FA. Of course, every family’s situation is different. Good luck with that process. Hopefully it allows you to attend.

Honestly, I know it came down to my essays. If I were to give any future applicant advice, it would be to be vulnerable and honest in your essays. FIGHT ON!
Other places accepted: Carnegie Mellon, UCLA, Boston College, UC San Diego, University of Rochester, Fordham, Northeastern, SDSU, USD, CSULB
Congrats on getting in to Viterbi. I have a CS grad from there. Fantastic education and opportunities!
Merit is unlikely as the majority of it has already been dispersed to those notified in January. And yes, being a spring admit also implies merit unlikely. FA is completely dependent on the individual/family finances.
Accepted to Marshall!

GPA: 3.81 UW, 4.28 W
ACT 35
APs: five 5’s, one 3, two in progress
ECs: 3 national powerlifting records, editor and artist for the school paper, personal animation/digital art projects in free time, YT channel with over 2 million views and 20k subs
Essay: self-made powerlifting journey and the obstacles I overcame
Supplementals: Honest about my love for animation, and seeing that computer science (games) is a good unification between my interests in art and practicality (job-wise and financially lol). Also talked about the many animation minors USC offers.
Letters of Rec: Very strong one from my AP art teacher, another good one from my Journalism teacher
Strengths: Stats, achievements, unconventional EC’s for my demographic
Weaknesses: Not a very out-there person, no leadership roles
Also admitted: UCSD, UCSB, UCI, UCSC
Rejected: UCLA, UCB
Comments: I’m so in shock this is surreal!!! I didn’t take any Comp Sci classes, so I was very unsure about my chances, but I guess this goes to show that you don’t need to take Comp Sci to get into that major!
