What? No. She was saying that her daughter has been accepted to 9 schools and wl at 1 but she did not mention the number of schools that rejected her daughter. It does not mean that her daughter only applied to 10 schools in total. You can’t just assume that UCLA is the one that did not accept her
@wanglou Those are the docs/files that a # of actual current students need to submit. So that is the potential positive. If you wait until Thursday or later to file them, waiting to see if you are admitted first, just be prepared to wait extra days for your FA offering thereafter. I would just recommend doing so asap if feasible to do so. Good luck.
@VivienL So true. It is often the parents that become more invested and take defeats harder. We do after all want the very best for our children. Good luck.
This is the week when all USC applicants, other than the select few already admitted in January, will finally learn the outcomes of their admission applications. Thursday, March 26th, will be a very meaningful day for those admitted. But, it does not need to be a defining moment for those who fail to gain the sought after outcome.
Tom Brady has more victories than any quarterback in NFL history, 249. But even he failed to achieve victory 75 times or 23% of the time. Even the very best historically do not always prevail or win.
Failing to be admitted to any college does not define you. It is such a cruel #s game these days that literally tens of thousands of quality applicants must be reluctantly turned away. To all of you active on CC or just following along without posting… good wishes and the best of luck getting in on March 26th. If you do not get into USC, hopefully you will find your place at another great option. And if you remain committed to USC, transferring in later is also an option. Many do so each year. But clearly some will face disappointment. Some will not gain admission into their dream school. I wish it could be otherwise.
@wanglou We too received the same request - it’s a lot of info to submit. I also contemplated waiting until Thursday to see if we even need to be concerned with this request.
Is it a bad sign that I haven’t received any requests for additional documentation? I’ve heard nothing from the financial aid department at USC, I’ve only been in contact with my counselor and an SCA professor… It’s a little worrying seeing that financial aid documentation might be an early clue. I check my portal and FAST frequently and there’s never been a request!
@emiliafilms It could merely mean they have everything they need from you. I don’t believe the requests for more documentation are early clues.
I heard a rumor once that USC notifies the parents before the student knows of their admission…does anyone know if this is true?
@megantaylor Not true.
@emiliafilms Within your FA portal, I assume you mean that you have looked at the various tabs… like “Required Documents” and “Received Documents”? Is there a list of received and nothing required? If so… you are fine.
@emiliafilms did you apply for financial aid?
Also, my daughter was admitted a few years ago and I was not notified first.
3 MORE DAYS!! we’re so close
@WWWard
It used to be a lot easier to get in when we were at that age. Sad for these kids, it’s so much harder.
@CollegeMomCL2024 Indeed. So very true.
Hey! Does anyone know if merit scholarship decisions will come by email or as a portal update, and around what time they typically release these? I looked at last year’s thread and it was all over the place, which CADREAMIN said was an irregularity. Thank you!
@dfa627 See Post 1441.
@collegemomjam Yes, I applied for financial aid. My dad and I submitted my CSS and FAFSA way back in November or December. I’m a little worried that no documents have been requested though, it seems like all my friends who applied have gotten lots of emails and requests from the FA department…
@emiliafilms I also applied for financial aid and have not received any emails or requests for documents. It probably just means that the FA office has everything that it needs for you!
@hcmom65 Sorry, maybe I wasn’t clear. UCLA was a no. But LMU was a WL. Their rate of acceptance is higher than the other schools she was accepted to. That’s all. Just making a point that ya never know! Sorry if I was unclear.
does everyone’s financial aid say that it’s “under review”?
Yes
