USC Class of 2028 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

Isn’t this the reason they admitted the student in the first place?

I think you mean test optional. USC is test optional, not test blind. UCLA and the other UCs and Cal States are test blind and they will not accept the test scores at all. There’s a difference.

It sounds like your daughter had an amazing application and, as others have pointed out, lots of people with perfect scores and GPAs get deferred. There is no telling what goes into USC’s decisions, but there isn’t much more your daughter could have done. It could have been the competition for her preferred major or something else, but it certainly wasn’t because she was lacking the academic success. The application process is just ridiculous right now and I suspect the applicants the last few years are reaching peak demands. At some point, the college bubble will burst and “mere mortals” will have a chance. But, this is where we are today. Your daughter sounds amazing and it will all work out for her. Fight On!

Thank you for sharing this information! Congratulations on your daughter’s amazing accomplishment! Getting into SCA is huge itself, let alone receiving the presidential scholarship! It’s like a dream come true for many kids who what want to pursue a film career! When did your daughter receive the interview notification and RD acceptance last year?

Thanks! She is actually in the games program which is also run through SCA and it’s been an incredible experience so far. Her interview was on February 13th. I didn’t remember, so I went to our calendar from last year to check and this was on Feb 13th so I think it’s safe to assume that was the date of the interview: “USC USC USC USC USC FIGHT ON RAHHHHHHHH” :joy: :joy: :joy: I remember it was scheduled very quickly, so she probably heard from them a few days before that.
She was accepted the same RD as everyone else (March 24 last year) and got her scholarship notification a few days later.

This might be an odd question - my kid has scheduled an interview for February. It’s for 30 minutes and virtual. Is this the interview for scholarships itself, or a pre-interview for a smaller group of on-campus interviews? Apologies for any confusion on my part here.

Yes… Indeed. Very well said.

This is for the interview itself. They switched to a virtual formal during covid. Good luck to your child!

Did anyone get into the housing app at 9:00? We couldn’t get in until 9:05 PST and got a time stamp of 9:08. Just curious how that compares to others…

Similar. Mine started at 8:59, didn’t get in until 11:04, but then she paused because something din’t make sense on the screen.

Even after submitting, she wasn’t sure if it was accepted as the screen kind of went blank. The only reason she thought she was done was because she received an email at 9:13 with her $ receipt. Nothing from USC yet saying application received.

Did you get a “done” page or email?

We couldn’t log in at 9, eventually did, finished at 12:12 p.m. So we were lagging, but not by choice. (Our confirmation was immediate to email, though, because others were most likely finished.)

No done page. The app was confusing for sure! We got hung on a blank page as well. Payment timestamp was 9:08 and we got a confirmation email at 9:15

Does anyone have experience with gender-inclusive housing? My kiddo would like to choose McCarthy. But it doesn’t have a gender- inclusive floor. I’m thinking because it’s suite style, it should be OK. Are trans and non-binary students well-integrated into non-gender-inclusive housing? I would hope so, but asking just in case…

We got in at 9:02 with a time stamp of 9:04. Lots of stops and lags along the way. Email a few minutes later.

Our son couldn’t get in at 9:00 but eventually finished with a 9:07 time stamp. It’s good there is ample time to go back and edit now.

She will find her place and it will include merit! LOL She is holding out hope for the Tuition Exchange program at USC though since she was admitted EA, she should be a strong candidate. Fingers crossed!

My daughter didn’t get in until after 9:30. Nuts!

I tried to DM you but I don’t think it sent. Did you receive it?

We had trouble getting in for a long time and eventually got a time stamp of 9:59. Is that not okay? It seems like that is still pretty good but what are people’s experiences? He’s hoping for McCarthy or Parkside Arts & Humanities suites with doubles, so he’s not going for a single, which might be more popular.

Hi - I see something now, but I didn’t see anything to open up, I will try again.
