scgirly12- I sent only my pre-reqs to Marshall but sent all of my grades to admissions.

sunshadow- According to the Marshall and admissions reps, they told me to send only my pre-reqs to your specific school (in your case Annenberg) and send all of your grades to admissions. The reason to send all of your grades to admissions is so they can factor it into your gpa.

lreds4life- cool, hopefully i can get one of my teachers to write one up for me…but yeah the W issue is pretty personal…but its also due to working 40+ hrs a week at two different jobs and trying to take 4 classes…so its that plus some personal family issues…once i get my spring grades i’ll deliver everything in person and maybe get a chance to talk to someone in person about it.

sc girly- I did not recieve a SGR…but I do not have any pre reqs in progress…and at my university our semester actually ended a couple of weeks ago, i got a 3.7 so i sent in my spring grades anyway’s just because it brought my gpa up +.04…ha but every little helps right? I’m still freaking out because my status has been the same for over a month…

easy-hahahahaha oh i bet the adcom will be doing PLENTY of that. didn’t someone call admissions and they said some of the adcom will be gone to a conference this week? or was that last week? anyone? bueller?

DJS3CA-i hope so! considering i have three exams and a paper due in the next 3-4 days and a final in the next week or so, i hope i get a break to celebrate becoming a trojan!

“I’m gonna call marshall tomorrow and ask whats up. I got a SGR but I am not taking any pre-reqs. Only the optional accounting course, ahhh”

Laguna - I called Annenberg about the same question, and they could not tell me why they wanted them. I hope you have better luck. I still have no idea why they want them, and it’s annoying me (not that they asked for them, but because I don’t know WHY.)

Reasons why I think I should NOT have gotten a SGR:

3.9 GPA
60+ units, hence not sophomore
No Ws
No grade lower than an A-
Finished the pre-reqs for my major and for my second choice major
Finished all but one USC GE class which I’m taking this semester
Sent in 2 nice rec letters

Reasons why I think they’re asking me:

No internships, ECs, or jobs pertaining to my major. I worked at a movie theatre last year, and I’ve worked in a bunch of customer service positions over the years, but none of those are anything to brag about.

I attended another university for a semester, 2 years ago, but only took a 3-unit course there. This will be the second time I transfer.

BUT - Both of these reasons still don’t make any sense to me. They could have just rejected me outright if they didn’t like those things. There are no ‘trends’ in my grades, and the classes I’m taking this semester have pretty much nothing to do with anything they could possibly want.

This is so frustrating. Arg.

PS. For everyone that sent in letters of recommendation, did your profs give you copies of what they wrote?

"i wonder if USC adcom reads this thread and go “these people are insane and obsessed but we have GOT to let them in.”

ksbr - Lol “Insane and obsessed” makes it sound like we should be applying to mental institutions instead.

“I agree. All my clothes, shoes, etc., are inexpensive. But I may splurge on jeans every once in a while.”

Woman of Troy - We’re exactly the same. Jeans, and only jeans do I splurge on. And this is on-topic because, um, USC has… a very diverse student body - some have $ and some don’t… which is another reason why I want to go… and yeah, I <3 diversity.

“… When I send in the Spring grades should they include a letter explaining the W?”

lreds4life & nonstopskratchin- I know a lot of people have already answered, but yeah, I agree. I definitely would. It can’t hurt, but it can help.

“I decided I’m not going to shave until I hear something from USC. I thought about doing a hunger strike… but I’d probably die”

Solomon - SERIOUSLY. lol

Ok, I’m done. I haven’t found any info on people who have been rejected yet, but I’ll do a little more searching now.

sc girly- Thanks. I know i will be hearing soon but I’m just really nervous after reading everything here it seems like i am the only marshall applicant on this board who is till at status 2? Besides from j3…is anyone else who applied to marshall still on the 2nd update??

Okay, I officially can’t find any transfers who have been rejected so far this year. It’s amazing how much this website and this thread in particular comes up in a google search for anything USC-related though.

mapletree - Both my professor and my mentor emailed me copies of their letters. I think it’s the norm to do so, because another professor showed me the letter he wrote for my [unrelated] scholarship application.

So those who got spring grade requests AND sent them in already, will not necessarily hear BY June 2nd? I’m assuming they will hear anytime from now until mid July…because they’ve already heard from admissions…regarding spring grades.

Yeah, from what I understand, that “By June 2nd” does not refer to SGR people. They will hear depending on how soon they get their spring grades submitted, which could be as late as mid-July.

The letters are SENT by June 1. So, technically, they can send them on Friday and we’ll all hear next week. Uh, this isn’t for SGR people.

I hope my status changes to ‘acted upon’ today. It’s been in stage 3 since Wednesday and it’s not supposed to be there for this long (granted there was the holiday weekend).

I didn’t send a letter of rec with my spring grades (which I sent without a request). Is that a problem? SCA required three letters of rec in the beginning, so they already have some.

Ahhhhhh I want to get in so bad, but I know that I’m really on the fence here. Oh well, I’ll just get through this week (and possibly next) with crossed fingers. I will not be able to concentrate at work all week!

How long do you think it will take to get a decision if you sent in spring grades last week?

sunshadow-thanks
radredhead-ah i feel the same way. I want to go soo badly. USC has been my #1 school for a while. I’ve turned down other top schools just to go to SC while still in high school. Just please let us in!!!
