Do contact student accounts for advice - the issue with the $800 housing deposit is that it is a [i/deposit* such as you would pay to a landlord of an apartment. You pay the deposit the first time you enter USC housing and then it carries over as long as you remain in USC housing. It is credited back, minus any repair fees, when you leave USC housing.

Is there any way you can earn the $800 over the summer from a summer job? If a parent has a credit card, can they pay the deposit on the card and have you pay them back in payments from your summer job? Inquire with USC to see if there are any payment plan options for the housing deposit. Be sure to contact USC housing to confirm that you want the housing you have been assigned and explain your predicament - maybe they will have some advice.

Good luck, and update us with further info.
