USC Merit Scholarship Applicants 2024

@let0202 i’m sorry but i really don’t think so. i really have no idea though

USC is very good at not giving hints. Changes to your portal, letters from departments or financial aid or emails about financial aid, etc. all mean nothing. Financial aid processes everything on a separate path without really knowing where you stand until after admission decisions are finalized, either in January or March.

@everyone

How many Dec. 1st scholarship applicants do they usually get? How many end up getting good news end of Jan.? Trying to calculate the January acceptance rate here.

@acceptanceflood According to other CC users, USC typically gets ~40,000 applications by December 1. They are awarding 1,100 scholarships this year, so that means an “acceptance rate” of around 2.75%.

@saguarosun

thats very very competitive

People have been saying that they’ve receiving packages related to merit scholarships in the mail today!

@elzzorr

@let0202 everyone in the other thread for USC has that now.

@18eampe most people are discussing it in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/2152218-usc-class-of-2024-applicants-thread.html#latest

Just got my package today! I live in LA, so it should be heading to others soon. Congrats to all who got them today, and good luck to those waiting!

hi! not sure what, if anything, you’d be comfortable sharing, but any chance u could tell us a bit about ur stats/which school within usc u got accepted to/etc? usc is really great about truly being holistic, but I am just wondering since my counselor seems to believe I have a great shot at USC generally but doubts i have any chance at a scholarship because she doesn’t think my #s are good enough for scholarships. there’s also a thread someone started for this. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/2172049-usc-class-of-2024-decisions-stats-only-thread.html

congrats @allisonfiedler!

Please post over here if you don’t mind! Trying to keep results consolidated…thanks!

Hi @currentbsstudent! I was accepted into Dornsife (CAS) with a pre-law track. In regards to my numbers, I don’t really think they are as relevant because once you reach a certain threshold, it starts to matter less about numbers. My numbers were almost all in the 75th percentile when comparing to the 2019 class profile, but I really think everything else in my application sealed the deal. Maybe they are looking for that range for merit. 33-36 ACT and 1450-1600 SAT? It is hard to tell.
Don’t worry too much about numbers, mine definitely weren’t perfect, and some were even below their average.
Wishing you luck and hope you get that merit! (Keep in mind USC has extremely generous financial aid).
Fight on.

Hello, congratulations to those who were selected for USC’s class of 2024! I’m happy to announce that I also received my acceptance letter in the mail today :slight_smile:

In my portal, it has a link that says “Fall 2020 admit reply form” under the required section. When I click on it, it asks me if I accept or decline USC’s offer of admission. However, I don’t see my offer of admission but was wondering why I have this link.
Does everyone have this link in their portal??
I’m also not from California and the mailman has not arrived yet.

@allisonfiedler hi! thank you. yeah my college counselor thinks i have an excellent shot in the march decisions, but I think kids who have gotten scholarship offers in january from my school have typically been in the top 25% of both grades and gpa compared to the usc class profiles. My SAT is great and not an issue, but my GPA isn’t quite as good. im frustrated but no point in getting my hopes up for the scholarship round. it will hopefully be worth the wait! i wholeheartedly believe that USC’s admissions are legitimately holistic, and i love them for it. i have gotten bad vibes from the admissions at other schools on my list, which sucks. only makes me love usc more. i wont be eligible for financial aid and i can still go without merit, but im just eager to find out :slight_smile: thanks for the response and congrats!!!

Yup.

Feb, 20, 24, 27, March 2, 5 are the Interview dates for Scholarships.
Quite Excited !!

I have not received a package but I have received notification via email that I’ve been accepted to USC on a merit scholarship! I live on the East Coast (NYC) so I believe packages are still on their way

@Anakajima17

Congrats!! if you don’t mind, what are your stats? thanks!
