usc transfer countdown

guitarshark85,

It’s a good sign in that you haven’t been outright rejected. From my understanding in speaking with admissions counselors when I underwent the same process, it means (as you may already know) that either your on the fence and they want something to swing them one way, or that your missing an essential component (e.g. math requirement) that they need to factor in before they can make a decision. I would say that as long as the recent grades they asked for are solid, there’s reason to be optimistic.

spring grade requests for freshman are very, very common, virtually routine though. They want to see a consistent track record or trends of performance, especially when a freshman’s GPA is highly volatile.

im a soph transfering in as a junior though, so doesnt that make it a little less routine?

I got into marshall with a 3.45 yesterday as a junior transfer from a 4-year private university in NYC. I have no idea how I got in… Now I fear that I might get revoked because I didn’t do so well this semester (2.7gpa). What do you guys think?

They didn’t ask for my spring grades, but I know sooner or later i will hve to send in my final transcript. ARHHG!

if your applying as a junior, it would certainly be less likely to receive a spring grades request. You already have 3 semesters of which to assess academic performance, but then again there are exceptions such as if you have a dynamic/inconsistent GPA from semester to semester. For the most part though, juniors dont receive spring grades. Ask all the juniors who got in already. Im betting none of them got spring grades and that is why juniors are the first to hear back

nyc, are you going to go? If so, what are you doing about housing?

domino, I plan to go to usc. however I’m currently in a tough predicament, as my GPA for the spring semester is not good. I need to make sure whether I satisfy the condition before I can start my housing options.

good luck and Fight ON!

yea, im guessing they requested mine because this last semester was all prereqs for my major(math, micro and macro econ) and general ed for the school. my gpa has been consistant semester to semester, so that has to be why they asked for spring grades.

guitarshart, what was ur major and gpa again?

Music Industry, was 3.86 now is 3.83

so even though i knew i got in, i got the official packet today. i was a freshman applicant, so you guys should all be hearing soon too. good luck to everyone.

27…

sooo… i called a few days ago, she said they weren’t asking for my spring grades. today i got a letter asking for them. weird…

also, does anyone think they would contact a teacher if there is an inconsistent grade on a transcript?

what do you mean by inconsistent?

out of the 11 classes i took this year, i got A’s in all of them except one, a C in an english class.

wow, 11 classes in one semester, geezzz. But no its not going to matter because you got 1 C. and they are not going to contact your teacher because they don’t have the time, the have soo many applicants.

no, 11 in two semesters! haha

day 29…

haha, only a few of us are still the counting…im guessing i’ll find out monday or tuesday. how bout you student4u?
