USC transfers.

stats? What’s your last name? Maybe that has something to do with it? lol

I am a high school senior. I want to apply to transfer to USC for fall 2008.

I have a 1340 on the SATs (640 math, 700 cr and then a 680 on the writing, so a 2020 in all)

I have a 3.66 GPA unweighted and a 4.1 or 4.3 weighted…

I want to know if these starting criteria are acceptable and likely for transferring?

have a 3.88 and last name starts with a K. My mom went there if that gives you guys a little more insight. I also just got a final request for high school transcripts a few weeks ago and sent them in for the first time around late april.

Rejected

Cinema Arts - Television Production

Im sorry to hear that Avitv, but I was wondering if u were a junior transfer?

Sophomore.

If you dont mind me asking, could you post your stats?

I think i posted them in the NYU thread, so you could check my post history (I mean, not THAT many posts :-p)

Now my decision is between Ithaca and BU.

AviTV, you got some great stats, but repeating what you already said about your weak portofolio is probably what messed up you chances. I also hear usc has the #1 film school in the nation which probably means it really competitive to get into?

Oh Yeah, although my portfolio is good on paper, which is what USC wants, my reel was weak (though USC doesn’t ask you to actually send any materials).

is your reel your portfolio?, and if so, how could they judge you if they dont actually ask you to send in your materials? unless you sent them in?

I used portfolio in the sense of the list of creative work I had done that they requested, and reel in the sense of actual video.

chocolate- the film school takes portfolio stuff into consideration, but they base about 80% of their decision on Writing samples and GPA. They dont really care about experience, they want creative minds who can handle the work load of the program.

Ok. So here is what’s happening to me.

I sent a freshman application and then USC lost it. this was for the film school. I was the notified to send another copy which i did, they then said they were considering me as a transfer as undecided and not for the film production program. The a few days after that i got notice that they have finally found my freshman application and were considering it. So today i received a rejection letter saying i have been rejected from film only.

So…does this mean i can still be considered for admission to the main school? I’m so confused. USC have fu ck ed me around

Jamie - yes it means that you’re still eligible for admission as undecides or your 2nd choice major.

What were your stats?

i received an email today from usc asking me to complete my fin.aid profile because i said i would be a candidate for assistance. does this mean i was possibly admitted and now theyre trying to come up with the admissions package that includes financial aid info? thanks

goldenjet

I am from the UK. (England)

My A levels were AAB and i had pretty good essays. I also don’t need financial aid.

Thats the only stats i can provide. I don’t have sat gpa or anything like that.

Sorry.

(So even though the letter did’nt say you have only been rejected from the film this is ow i should take it?)

Wait wait… they send out a letter for each major you apply as?? So they could send a letter of rejection if you’re applying to Marshall, and they’ll send you another separate letter of rejection/acceptance of your second major?

i got my acceptance letter today from the arts and sciences

dory- It;'s not like that for all majors, I just know its like that for film.

Congrats mojo! what were your stats!
