USC transfers.

This seems to be a running theme on here. I faxed my parents W2’s, two weeks ago and had to re-fax them today because they didn’t file or couldn’t find them.

My USF transcripts were just reviewed and posted to my STARS report today. I think it’s just insane there. When I was at orientation I let my advisor know that an entire school was missing from STARS. That was yesterday and today it’s magically there. I just think they’re probably overwhelmed at the moment… it’s no excuse, but it was freaking nuts there yesterday… I’m still tired. Just found out I can take a Spanish placement test tomorrow with the freshman transfer to get that approval I need. I think I’m going to do it. Anyone else that got in and needs placement testing we can just show up tomorrow and sit in on it, you don’t need to call anyone… or reserve a spot.

****. how do you know if you do mr pupppy?

ok you guys are gonna love me for this (whoever didn’t get in yet and doesn’t wanna wait to get the letter). i finally found a more surefire way of how to find out online whether or not a person has gotten in.

as technics said, the stars report would not necessarily show, regardless of one’s matriculation status because it’s not updated regularly. If you go on oasis, instead of checking the stars report, check the USCe.pay (right column, all the way to the top). if you have not gotten in yet, after clicking on the link, the page will show your student ID and say “Record does not exist.” I am assuming after one has been admitted, the page will show the enrollment fee and whatnot.

im pretty sure this has to work. technics, can you please check to confirm if this is true.

Sorry Sex, mine still says ‘record does not exist’ but I have received a confirmation email from usc for putting in my deposit. :/

dammit. back to the drawing board.

Sex: try this. for mine, when i try to check for holds, it says I need to go to electrical engineering advisement to register. I think if you’re admitted, it will go and say that per your major.

If you have an advisement hold, that’s a very good sign… honestly. A hold is put on your account so you can not register until you meet with an advisor from your major… for those not attending orientation I’m sure they’ll do it over the phone or something. Anyway, don’t quote me on this or anything, but if it says a major “ANYWHERE” I’d say you got in… since why else would they update that in the system?

Technics: according to the folks at orientation yesterday a placement test is needed if you are transferring in 1 or 2, but not all 3 years of a language to USC and you need to take more at the University. If you are starting from scratch a test, obviously, wouldn’t be needed. Likewise, they will make you take a math placement exam if you are transferring in a math and need to take more math at USC. There are other tests for writing and etc if you didn’t get credit for WRIT140… but they make all us LAS folk take a writing test at orientation anyway, so… anyone that is LAS will do that for sure. The writing exam was a joke, real simple… I’ve been told the math one is basic as well, and I’ll know more about the Spanish tomorrow afternoon, but I don’t think they’re anything too crazy.

Edit: The above is what was communicated to us, I should have pointed this out… if you get transfer credit in STARS you’re good to go. The only reason I need to take the Spanish test is because I’m finishing up my spanish 1 this summer and it’s still in progress… USC said that I can wait until the grade is final and submit the transcript, that will unlock SPAN120 and allow me to register for SPAN150, or… I can take this test tomorrow and that will determine if I’m ready for SPAN150 now. In other words it would buy me a few weeks and give me a better chance of getting in the class than waiting. I figure I have nothing to lose, if I go tomorrow and bomb it, I’ll just wait until August X to turn in my CC scripts with the class, and try to sneak into the class during the first week of classes… or, meh… take it in the Spring… either way I’ll be fine, pass this test tomorrow or not… it’s like all to gain nothing to lose really. I got credit for a few Maths, including MATH245, so for econ we’re only really required to go up to 125  So I’m totally golden with getting into any math class I need… I think the only way you HAVE to do a placement test is if you’re in a situation like me and you have to wait for your scripts, or… they don’t give you credit for something… otherwise if it’s in OASIS/STARS, the registration site lets you register just fine, so there is nothing really to gain by taking the tests. WOW, I’m long winded today.

im starting to lose hope in usc. why cant they hurry the **** up!!! i just want to know whether it’s a yes or no so i can just get on with my life.

dude Sex try my theory!

Yeah my cumulative was 3.5 after my sping grades. I brought my grades up consistently every quarter and had my best ever spring '06 - It was a calc class from fall '05 that I got a C+ in. I kind of have been reading all of your posts religiously for the past few weeks and I am pulling for all of you that are still waiting. Goodluck!

bwagy man, sorry to hear that… Marshall seems to be really really evil. :frowning: Are you going to try again this fall?

Thanks bwagy, we’re all sorry to hear about what happened. Anyways, good luck! Where are you off to?

bwagy, did you put a 2nd choice major

I havn’t decided if I will apply again…I really want to go to USC, but if I go back Cal Poly I’ll have about 5 quaters left…Maybe USC for my MBA!?! I’m definitely doing Semester at Sea sometime this year, I’ve already applied and have been accepted for the Fall time, but maybe I’ll wait for the spring. I did not put down a second choice, because I really didn’t have one!

*ing **es

dude sex, try my hypothesis

i did. i tried everything. no success.

im still waiting to hear back! this is extremely late - I wonder if it’s like this every year?
