<p>You HAVE to attend chapel at Pepperdine every week. Are you ok with that?</p>

<p>i’m starting to really want to go to NYU, but I don’t know how I could deal with no campus and meeting people without a campus.</p>
<p>Pepperdine and NYU would both be excellent for journalism.</p>
<p>I’m an entering freshman journalism major at Pepperdine, and a recruited reporter for their newspaper. All of the senior editors are off doing internships in D.C. and New York, with CNN and the like. Pepperdine’s journalism program has a lot of opportunities to offer.</p>
<p>*UCs don’t offer journalism as a major.</p>
<p>Couple of comments:</p>
<p>3.6-3.7 WEIGHTED gpa is sort of outside the range for USC and NYU given the 2070 SAT…</p>
<p>Pepperdine shouldn’t be lumped in with LMU and U San Diego. Pepperdine is more selective (28% in 2006, probably 24% by now), and has 1290 ave 25/75 SAT vs. LMU’s 56% acceptance and 1170 SAT. U of San Diego is 46% and 1180.</p>
<p>You probably should broaden your search. My daughter just finished her freshman year at UCLA. She plans to be a communication studies major as they don’t have journalism. You have to apply once you have finished your freshman year and she plans to apply this fall. She will need a UCLA GPA of 3.8 or 3.9 (she has a 3.9). I’m telling you this because she applied to USC to the Annenberg School of Journalism which takes only 160 freshman. She had a 4.3 GPA, editor of Yearbook 2 years, class president, more great EC’s and great recs. and essay. She was rejected by USC. USC and NYU are pretty selective as is Pepperdine.</p>
<p>The UC’s you might have a chance at are: UCSB, UCSC, Riverside and Merced. Probably would have a good chance at Loyola Marymount and U of SD. Good luck to you!</p>
