the car I referenced earlier had motor mounts that wore out, a digital dash which stopped displaying how much gas I had, an electronic antenna that instead of going up and down got stuck down, headlights that were supposed to pop up and down which got stuck down, a cable that connects the shifter in the car to the transmission which broke due to old age and had to be replaced… which as a result left the car stuck in park… oh and something broke where you’d turn the car off and remove the key and parts of the car would keep running. I remember we had to smother it at the exhaust to get it to stop… and it would overheat if you drove it for more then 2 hours in 95+ degree heat.

This is obviously in addition to the normal things like oil changes, tire changes things like that.

I only owned the car for about 2 years… bought it with 70k miles at 17 and traded it in with about 90k miles at 19. The worst part was I was suckered in to buying the extended warranty from the car dealership which cost me somewhere close to 1500 dollars. It didn’t cover a single issue mentioned above. I would have been better off saving that 1500 and putting it towards the repairs that it didn’t cover.
