<p>In terms of theories about why graduation rates are rising, I’d like to throw in the stupendous rise in tuition costs and increasing parental pressures to finish in four years.</p>
<p>But the question in terms of rankings is: why does it matter that a college misses or exceeds some arbitrary expectation set up by USNWR?
The information I would want is whether students do not graduate in six years because classes are so overcrowded that they can’t get into the ones they need.</p>
