Like Parchment, Payscale is subject to false reporting and even intentional manipulation. E.g., the frat bros at any given school could get together one Sunday afternoon and submit fictitious and inflated salary reports for several thousand equally fictitious alumni, thereby burnishing said school’s image by making it appear that its alumni go on to uncommonly lucrative careers.
