Just wondering if anyone has any advice. This is the only school I applied to, so I am probably going to take classes this fall and try again for UT in the spring. I’m feeling pretty confused and discouraged after being denied with a 4.0. I’m not sure if I was denied because there weren’t enough spots or if there is something I need to be doing between now and spring to increase my chances.

@queenpal It’s probably best not to. I am more than capable of being successful at UT and contributing to the program. I’m sure you are as well, along with many of the other COLA rejects I’ve seen this morning. It’s very upsetting but I understand that the pool was competitive this year. I signed a lease and will be moving to Austin this fall so I guess it’s reasonable to reapply in the Spring. I’m not all too enthusiastic about the whole thing anymore, haha. Best of luck!

@veganguy1623 happy so see someone else in my major get accepted too, and who is also vegan!!

Got denied again for the second year. 3.67 RTF and I actively freelance work in the industry. Not sure if I’m going to wait until the fall to apply again, honestly who needs a 4 year degree? Good luck everyone else!

@collegekid0013 you in austin? Tryna make stuff this year?

CNS still in review

@thetruespacejam , I applied for electrical engineering. You? What branch were you? I was in the army, and wrote about my deployment on my essay. I hope it gets me in lol

FYI. Son just got denied for UT Austin CS. Stats 3.8 at UNT CS, 4.0 in CS classes, President’s list since changing to CS in the spring of freshman year. 70+ hours, no LOR. Probably won’t appeal. Time to find housing in Denton and continue with his degree there. Austin is home, which is why he tried here.

Rejected from computer engineering/computer science … Stats are competetive 3.85+ GPA, a butt load of credits, ectra curriculars etc… But idc because I got into UW-Seattle for computer science

@cercit20 Have fun at UW man, it’s my dream school!

rejected from cs just now. 3.91 GPA

Rejected from Biomedical engineering/ mechanical engineering.
I had a 3.91 with 48 hours

Rejected from CNS Bio

Just got denied from CS
4.0 with Honors
3 LOR
58 Hours
Plenty of CS extra curricular

Neuroscience, denied. 4.0, 50 hrs in Spring+11 AP credits, the best and most personal essays I’ve ever written (peer- and professor-reviewed, who made my friend cry and my professor with a PhD in Lit said they were flawless), super great ECs in high school, and in college: two jobs full-time, was in a NASA Competition that we won 2nd place in but didn’t get to tell them the results, now an ironically math and science tutor (couldn’t tell them), currently taking Calculus I (which was recommended to take, but took it AP in hs and tested out of Precal I in college), and 3 LOR from hs teachers (2 science, 1 from AP History). Sorry this is so long, but I really wish they would’ve told me sooner. Now I’m messed up trying to find housing and classes for UTD. But from the bottom of my heart, congrats to everyone!!! And again, best of luck to all even though no one needs it because of all your accomplishments!

Second time applying to UT

Denied from CS, 3.9 GPA, 2 LORs, 42 Hours, Solid Essays and Good Extracurriculars :frowning:

And it says the same thing about the 3x the amount of applicants.

Sorry to hear that, guys. It seems they rejected most CS and Engineering applicants.
This may be due to the large number of freshman and internal transfer applicants this year.
