Average SAT score - probably lower at UVa because they accept a lot of athletes who probably didn’t score well. I’m not making excuses for that, but I also don’t think it matters. a case can be made that while the top 25% of students are equally as strong at both schools, the 25-75 tells us that the middle 50% at least scored better at UVa than at W&M.

also, please stop quoting the “lowest OOS acceptance rate in the south.” For 1, its not, UNC-CH has that - which people have told you numerous times. for 2, thats like the stupidest thing to be proud of. I might as well say “well UVa has the lowest acceptance rate of half jamaican half american indian students in the mid atlantic regions.” Obviously w&m’s admissions rate is goign to be lower because it gets more applications per spot than UVa does. However, it should be noted that many more people choose to go to UVa who are accepted than at w&m.

also, my quip about the only being 2 schools was meant to be somewhat facetious. however, if you want to get very serious about it, when there are only 8 schools to choose from, and only 1 thats anywhere near you (before cars, before railroads), its much easier to have all those famous people from virginia attend.
