My dd had a marvelous time in Turkey and had no problems. She said the people were very friendly. Her boyfriend and she went to Istanbul, Cappadocia and Marmaris. They did couchsurf and again had no problems.
D is currently in Istanbul and loving the whole trip.
Stops included Cappadocia, Goreme, Derinkuyu, Ilhara Valley, castle of Uchisar, Fethiye, Lycian Way, 4 days and 3 nights on a Turkish goulet, Pamukkale, Selcuk, a moderate sized city near the beautiful ruins of Ephesus and now Istanbul.

Yay, UMDAD! Incredibly exotic country. DH and I went years ago, Istanbul and down the coast to Kusadasi and Ephesus. D1 visited in spring '14 and loved it. She was in Istanbul during a riot, in the midst of it.
Now winging her way home.
Last stop in Turkey was the rooftop bar of the Istanbul Four Seasons for a glass of wine. Nice way to end things.
