val. with an 1860 / what does that mean?

compaq, my mom and dad are both teachers in my school district and believe me they are doing some work to make things tougher.

bulletandpima, i have known my couselor all my life for like 17 years. on the report she always marks that AP/IB is not offered and states that College Courses are avaliable. Then she always marks Most Difficult courseload.

I am not saying that they won’t hurt my transcript. I had no alternative though, there are all we’ve got.

I am sure if you have it covered, than you’ll have to do what everybody else does…sit and wait. You are unwilling to retake so that leaves you with no other options

i took a class for 1,000 dollars and got little results. i took the sat four times. my scores will not improve.

Then get out a good book, pull up the chair and sit and wait with everyone else.

Bret, do’nt know what your parent has done. But may be it’s your turn now. You should take the lead now. Your parent is not you. And if you show them you’re somebody! Then people will see you as a leader. And that would make your application stronger

thanks for the ideas, i’m on the school accrediation committee so i kind of already am doing some stuff. i’ve got some pretty good community service and stuff so thats what i wrote my essay on. :)

My school’s valedictorian did decently on the SAT (2040) but still a lot of people did better than her and so she took the ACT and got a 24…she in general is a terrible test taker in any timed tests actually.

lol try going to a very uncompetitive school with the highest GPA of 3.8.

same here! haha i got a 23 when i took the ACT.

What do you read for fun? Most avid readers I know get great SAT scores. Some are turned off by boring, underchallenging school classes and don’t get very good grades.

i did fine on the CR:650 W:660 Essay:11 M: 550 its the math that kills me.

The stats only matter if they don’t make you competitive in the school you are applying to. Look for academic fit.

the only schools that are outside my stats SAT wise:

USC
NYU-I’m a track recuit though
Whitman
Connecticut College

What’s the most challenging math you have studied?

College Algebra Junior Year
College Statistics Senior Year

There are plenty of other students whose high school academic records are better than their standardized test scores. The good news is that most colleges weighthigh school achievement more heavily than standardized tests, and there are a number of selective schools that are SAT optional, that are tailor-made for someone with your profile.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/419667-top-lacs-have-made-sat-act-optional.html

so basically, precalculus and AP stats in the high school sense of those words.

i don’t know… i guess?

I think so too.

Is “College Algebra” even precalculus? I think at our local community college “Algebra” is basic algebra. They have separate courses titled “Precalculus I” and “Precalculus II.”
