Valentine's Day in Verona Italy

Apologies to sistersunnie, crabbylady and others who don’t have spouses to celebrate valentines day with. That is truly sad. Sympathies to you.

I have a young friend (military wife) who will be celebrating both Valentine’s Day and her 21st birthday while her husband is out of the country on deployment. Unlike some people, she realizes that many have it much, much worse…

I think v-day was created for the card companies, but I also like the idea.
However, remember exchanging valentines in grade school? It isn’t just for lovers, it can be for friends, relatives, whomever you want to make a point of telling them you love & appreciate them.

Although, if I was momII, I would be po’ed to be sitting at home, knowing that DadII thought more about his upcoming toy purchase,

than giving me a nice break.

Aside to MomII
[Eddie Vedder speaking Italian, what could be more romantic?](Pearl Jam: Immagine in Cornice - Live in Italy 2006 (Video 2007) - IMDb)

DadII, shame on you - a RT flight on Lufthansa (JFK to Verona) is only $770 on the dates you specified!!! That’s about the price of a used Nikon lens. Surely you can afford to buy her a ticket - you can tough it out a month without a new lens and save a few bucks even further by adding 1/2 of your Valentine’s dinner to your expense report.

Can’t wait to hear what great deals were scored in Verona. On second thought-- yes I can. Its supposedly gonna rain over there. That new camera lens might get ruined. That would be a tragedy- just like Romeo and Juliet.

I was going to sculpt other responses to this response, but no, this is the best one…
