Vanderbilt Class of 2028 Official Thread

Same

Does it say still in running for admissions?

Sorry!! Probably in same boat! But lots of good things still possible

what boat are we all in? I’m so nervous what’s happening!?

If I am not wrong then Regular Decision release date is Apr 1st, 2024.

Just meant didn’t get the CV scholarship

We’re still being considered for admission and they mentioned opportunity Vanderbilt and that there are still some other scholarships they’ll consider us for

Ahh, can you guys write received rejection letter for CV scholarship. It gets confusing because some colleges like St Olaf send rejection letters much before the admission decisions in one of the few waves.

Dear Name,

Thank you for your interest in Vanderbilt and for taking the time to apply for one of our signature scholarships. This year, the merit scholarship selection process was extremely competitive, with fewer than 275 awards offered to over 8,000 applicants. The Cornelius Vanderbilt selection committee has now completed their review, and I regret to inform you that you have not been selected to receive this award. Please be aware that the admissions review process for the Class of 2028 is still ongoing and decisions will be released by April 1.

In addition, we are continuing the process of selecting scholarship recipients for a small number of other merit-based awards. These award recipients will be notified by April 1.

The largest share of dollars we offer to incoming students is through Opportunity Vanderbilt, our need-based financial aid program. We are committed to making a Vanderbilt education affordable for families based upon our three commitments:

  1. Our admissions process is need-blind. This means that your family’s ability to pay for a Vanderbilt education is not a factor in our admissions process.
  2. Vanderbilt will meet 100% of a family’s demonstrated financial need for all admitted U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens. Many students often pay no more to attend Vanderbilt than they would pay to attend a college with a lower total cost.
  3. Need-based financial aid packages for admitted first-year undergraduate students include no need-based loans.

Opportunity Vanderbilt includes a full-tuition scholarship for families with income of $150,000 or less. Families in this income range typically receive financial aid awards greater than full tuition to support housing, food, and other expenses. Many households with income of more than $150,000 still receive an Opportunity Vanderbilt award.

If you are offered admission and have applied for need-based financial aid, you should receive a financial aid notification letter with an offer of admission. If you feel that you will require need-based student financial assistance but have not yet completed the application process for need-based aid, you must act quickly. Please visit our website for complete application instructions and additional information.

Best wishes as you make your college enrollment decision.

Sincerely,

Lelia Gibson
Associate Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships

Ugh. Really? I thought Ivy Day was 3/28 this year and VU normally went before Ivy day. I have it penciled in for 3/26 or 3/27 on my calendar. Too optimistic?

So if you were offered a scholarship, you know you are in
 otherwise still waiting?

Yes. It is April 1st.

Same

The rejection email for CV scholarship says the admission decision will come BY 4/1. Still hoping they release the decision before Ivy day as usual.

They always say by, it will almost for sure be consistent with last year.

Last years Vandy thread showed decisions came out Tuesday, March 28 so maybe March 25 this year ? Which would be before Ivy day. Just guessing.

Was this posted to your portal?

My son applied four years ago and didn’t receive it, and I don’t recall him getting a notice similar to this one (as an aside, he was admitted and will be graduating this spring). My daughter applied for CV this year and hasn’t received any notice regarding it. Odd.

We got the same email notice yesterday. RD.
