I am utterly disgusted right now by this school. First and foremost, I have been in communication with my counselor for over a year following my waitlist last year. I had previously sent in my college transcript THREE TIMES officially and twice unofficially because I simply could not pay the fee anymore. However, my counselor chooses to inform me LAST WEEK that they will not accept my unofficial transcript. NOW, I am receiving word that my transcript has STILL not been received even though there is literally ONE Vanderbilt university in all of the world…
I am very upset and I have chosen to just completely dismiss this school because this is unbelievable. Vandy has been my dream school for years and seeing how they treat students this year… its awful. I’m so mad right now I am shaking.
@cusnew Based on past threads. I’m not saying that transfers don’t get in off of the waitlist because some clearly do each year, but by and large the odds aren’t great. Just look at the number of people in this year’s thread that have actually recieved a rejection already; I counted like 3 I think.
@podo6868 I emailed admissions and they told me they are not accepting any more transfer apps since May 1st. But it’s weird how it still open on CommonApp and Coalition. I would recommend you to email them.
Well, i submitted my application on May 21, they just received all my documents. I would suggest you to try because we don’t have nothing to lose hahah. good luck!
Alright, thanks guys!
Also, I heard that you won’t be able to live on campus for the 2020-2021 school year as a transfer since the whole COVID thing. Are you guys still gonna transfer this fall then?
@podo6868 transfers can’t defer their enrollment. If you apply for the fall of 2020 you can’t tell them to hold your spot until they offer on campus housing the following year. If you’re accepted you either decide to go for the fall of 2020 without housing or you decline their offer altogether; there is no ‘wait’ option.
I was waitlisted, and I was wondering would it be bad to take one class P/NP? I know we have to submit spring grades, but there’s one class where the prof has NOT been understanding at all & this class isn’t related to my major whatsoever. Thoughts? Any advice would help!
Given the circumstances that students had to go through this semester with a sudden change to online classes and living at home, they’re going to understand why you chose to have it P/NP. It’s totally okay and if they don’t understand why, then maybe this isn’t the right school.
@trademistakes Maybe this year is different. I just know that if you look at these threads from the past few years, no CC students were accepted (from this site, anyways). Additionally, I don’t remember seeing any JKC transfer scholars attend Vandy over the last few years. I’ve seen some of them get waitlisted/rejected and go to places in the HYPSM group instead. I’m not saying it’s impossible; it just seems significantly harder than Vandy’s peer schools. Unfortunately, it’s not like we have access to statistics to confirm the acceptance rate for CC students and test my theory.
My honest opinion is that they probably have certain things they look for in CC applicants. If you don’t have them, regardless of how high your stats are or how great the rest of your application is, they’ll waitlist/reject you. Future CC students can always apply if they love Vandy, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up regardless of how good your app is.
