Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2017]

@usualhopeful Each transfer orientation group has 14 students and there are a total of 210 transfers entering each year. Thus, 15 group leaders and one official supervisor. I do not think 16 is an exorbitant estimation

No, he’s saying that there could be transfers who were accepted and simply did not join the fb group.

Last week they heard around 5:15! we’re getting there!!

one more hour of anxiety… nap time?

they only have 210 spots. they probably going to release waves every two weeks so they don’t overfill the spots. they’ll see how many people put down a deposit within the two weeks they give you after acceptance and then release another wave

@pearmetty why do you think only 210 spots?

Last year they admitted 376, the year before was around the same… taken from the vanderbilt website

Well, it is harder to estimate the fb group thing because last year they created the group on May 25th when things were pretty much settled. We had 173 members total

They usually admit ~400 for their incoming transfer class of 210 people

@iveeehopeful on the article it says 210 spots. So what I’m thinking what happens this year is that they release the first wave: let’s say 200 acceptances and 100 matriculate. Now they have 110 spots left

Second wave maybe another 150 get accepted and 75 matriculate so 35 spots left.

Further waves until all 210 are filled.

I may be completely wrong though but I would think that would be a sensible approach to the situation.

@somehmonggirl Is correct about what I was saying.
I’d guess at least 130 admits, but I’m also guessing they’ll release again before May 2.
It’s kind of funny, I know of at least 2 other transfer admits to Vanderbilt from my college. So like 2% of admits so far are from my college with under 2,000 students.

hey guys I found out at 5:16 pm hope that helps

@usualhopeful I was saying ~15% (16/110) are not in the group but I guess it could be more

I am just confused that given that they want the same number of transfer students this year and they have already changed the releasing pattern, why would they need to change the weekly strategy to biweekly? Last year 218 enrolled–only 8 more than they expected

@PsychPRC I was thinking last year 173 members --> 157 incoming transfers --> 157/218 is 75%. If 75% of admits have joined the fb group (now at ~109 students), there would be 145 people admitted so far.

yes but they accept around 400 students, so we have plenty of room and they have tons more acceptances to send out

Yes, I agree they’re likely to accept more before first wave has all enrolled in May 2.

So another 15 minutes of waiting…

@PsychPRC yeah and thats only IF they’re actually sending some out today

I am sitting in Garland 101 at Vanderbilt, refreshing application portal, and feeling stressed out… How ironic
