Vanderbilt Waitlist 2024

@miryal same. The second wave seemed significantly smaller than the first. I’ve now accepted that I probably got rejected, and I feel like everyone else here should as well. The third wave, if there is one, will probably be so small, even smaller than the second. Oh well.

People on Reddit are also theorizing that the class is full as well.

@Norcal1972 I’m from NJ

Good luck to you for college. Am sure you will do well wherever you go.

I don’t know if this information will be useful, but I submitted a LOCI where I stated that Vandy was my top choice, had my guidance counselor write an additional letter supporting my interest in Vandy, got a teacher to write an extra letter of rec, and updated my admissions counselors of my third quarter grades when they were released. I do believe that a main part of getting off the waitlist for me was continuing to demonstrate continued interest and keeping in contact with my AO letting her know that I would definitely attend Vandy if given the opportunity. Good luck to everyone!!!

@user1289012 i did the EXACT same things as you and did not get off. are you full pay by any chance or close to it?

@DrSenioritis No I am not - I received some financial aid. However isn’t financial aid separate from admissions offices? Or is it a different policy when they are taking from the waitlist?

@user1289012 not for waitlists. their waitlist is need aware. so basically the less financial aid you need the more likely you are to get in

My son got off WL yesterday. We are full pay. He did not submit anything other than clicking on WL button. There were 2 boys from his school who were accepted regular decision, both are going elsewhere UVA and UC Berkeley. Interesting part is I think my son is a way better fit for Vandy than these guys who got regular admit. Decision required Monday!

I’m full pay and submitted 2 LOCIs, both of which ensured them that Vandy was my top choice and I would go if accepted, but I’m not so lucky to have gotten off the waitlist yet. I agree that it seems like the class size is probably near full. I’m a bit disappointed but I tried my hardest and I don’t feel like there was much else I could’ve done. I honestly can’t really tell if Vanderbilt is looking at people’s need this year or not when considering admission.

So everyone off the waitlist is full pay?

My brother got off the waitlist in the first wave and he was full pay too.

And I wouldn’t despair so soon though! In the past two years, there have been four waves of waitlist offers in May. And they’ve even picked some kids (very few, though) to be accepted off the waitlist in June. And they told us in the Vandy waitlist webinar that they plan on wrapping up admissions by the first week of July. So, I would think more admissions offers might be made in the coming days!

I had gotten off the waitlist on the first wave, and I am not full pay. Vanderbilt was very generous so don’t lose hope everyone!

I got off the waitlist in the first wave and am not full pay. Like femalecurry said, they’re still incredibly generous!

Hi there- rising junior at Vanderbilt here! I was admitted off the waitlist in the first wave of waitlist admissions of 2018. My advice for you if Vandy is truly your dream school is to submit a LCOI, continue to update your AO with new accomplishments & accolades if you can, express that you will immediately accept, and have your guidance counselor call on your behalf if possible. I also emailed my interviewer to tell them I was waitlisted and working hard to be admitted- no idea if that part played a role or not, though to be honest.

Side note: If you can tell them you will be able to accept immediately regardless of the financial package offered, that may help (that’s what I was advised to do by my guidance counselor- as I knew I was most likely gonna be paying full price at Vandy & my other school was just as expensive so it made no difference), although I don’t think that would ever be held against you if you cannot make that assurance.

Lastly, just try to be patient. In the meantime, get excited about the school you are enrolled in & view a possible admission offer to Vandy as a happy surprise if it comes. Try not to agonize over checking these boards too often. You’ve done your best up to this point and that’s all that matters. The rest, is unfortunately out of your hands. I remember how hard it can be to wait in uncertainty. Wishing you all the very, very best!!

I declined btw toughest decision I’ve had to make

@palm12312 where did you commit?

@palm12312 Am curious why did you decline?

UMich b/c $ and I was gonna go premed and I’ve talked to several vandy students who were low key regretting going there cuz the sciences are brutal so it’s hard to get a good gpa which is extremely important for med school

Any idea when the next wave will be? Do we have to wait for another interest email, or will there be a wave without an email?
