<p>My S (in a HS near nj2011mom’s) also wore his extensively (In his case, it was for band.) I think it was his only winter coat for a year. We still keep it in the vaca house as an emergency coat if someone needs one (10 years later.)</p>
<p>DS wore his Letterman’s jacket for 2 years. I’m not sure why but he didn’t wear it much senior year. The kids do wear them around here. Although because we live in Georgia they only can wear them certain months. I still have mine. Although I don’t plan on wearing it again.lol</p>
<p>Kids’ high school awards varsity letters for academics–the pins are lamps (looks like Aladdin’s lamp. . .) My kids don’t play sports and never had/asked for jackets, but do have the letters/pins. (Their “letters” look odd since the name of the school has 4 letters, not one.) I suppose some of the athletes wear them. . .I don’t really know since we don’t go to the sporting events. None of my kids wanted rings, either. Letter jackets and class rings were really cool when I was in high school, but not such a big deal here.</p>
