Venting: when the jock gets the full ride

I agree that athletes raise money for schools and all. However, the favoritism some receive is out of bounds. Please note, I said some…not all.

For example, I live in Memphis, Tn. I used to attend the “University” of Memphis. A basketball player by the name of Hunt was thrown off the team a while back for beating his girlfriend, beating some fellow on Beale Street, and earning bad marks.

He was still allowed to continue with his schooling and just recently earned a BA in a design your own major program run out of the University College.

Part of his parole is that he has to be doing “something” until right at November or so.

So, the whole time he is “earning” his degree, he sits in with his old Basketball team and participates in the practices even though he is no longer allowed to play, but is still allowed to attend the school and earn a “degree.”

Now that he has his schooling over and done with, he has been allowed to re join his basketball team?! Because, the fellow has to do something until November or so, why not play basketball?!

He was given the opportunity to design his own major and get out of a lot of courses

He was given the opportunity to earn a “degree”

And now he has been given the opportunity to re join the basketball team even though he has a record

When I think of things like that, I just freak out.

There has been a crackdown as of late to prevent colleges from using private jets and prostitutes to encourage athletes to attend their institution.

Big schools. And I’m serious. It’s pretty bad.

You know what I hate? I hate that bodybuilders are not treated the same as other athletes. That’s what I hate…

If you mean bodybuilding, that’s not really a sport IMO, it’s a “beauty” pageant for men. However, based on your other thread I assume you mean powerlifting, which I agree is a very underrated sport, especially the Olympic lifts.
