Has anyone who was admitted EA received an invitation to apply for the St Augustine scholarship for this year? It looks like emails went out last year on 1/22, and just wondered if anyone has gotten one this week.
D admitted EA honors college. When will we hear if she received any merit? Thanks!
@kitkat57 congratulations!!! My son was also accepted on Villanova. I also saw your post in UM where my son was also accepted but we are in the same boat that they didn’t give us the $$& we were expecting. Did you got any merit with Villanova? My son also applied for the presidential but I was wondering if they are giving regular merit scholarships with admission. My son didn’t get any?
@Ctamayo The last few years they did not offer merit with acceptances but much later. Also they release financial aid well after regular decisions are out. So if you have an acceptance you have to wait it out for a while before you know if it is affordable or not!
@Ctamayo I haven’t received any financial aid package as of now. I find out by the end of the month if I’m a finalist for the presidential scholarship, which would be a full-ride, so I’m really hoping for that! I would assume that my invitation to the honors program is a good sign, but who knows? When I spoke with one of Villanova’s admissions counselors, he told me that the presidential is the only opportunity for merit. However, I’ve also heard through word of mouth that finalists for the presidential who don’t get the presidential may end up getting extra aid in addition to need-based. I’m really not sure though! Hoping for the best! Good luck to your son as well!
@kitkat57 he was also invited to the honors program. The web site said the decision day for presidential is January 31st. There is also a merit scholarship up to $16000 . I read they said that if you don’t get the presidential most likely get that amount. Let’s see how everything develops with UM a well we will fight till the end , let the best one and the one that treat him the best win. ?

D received her letter in the mail plus stickers today!
We got the mailing too. Would rather have some merit money ?
Does anyone know how many are accepted into the Honors college per year? Thank you(:
@whiterose788 My daughter was accepted into Honors and in looking at the website, I think they accept enough to have a yield of 160-170 honors students per year in a class of around 1700, so about 10% of the class. I don’t know exactly how many they accept to get to that number.
Hi all
My S17 got admitted to Villanova , NOT Honors , no Financial Aid .
Just an FYI his stats were as below
Stats:-
OOS candidate ( NJ )
ACT 35.25 (Composite 35)
SAT II Math :- 800
SAT II Physics :- 790
UW GPA:- 4.0
Top STEM School in country
NMF Finalist
600+hrs volunteering
decent EC’s Member of Finance club that reached Fed Reserve semi finalist in Fed Challenge
TSA finalist represented state
Applied for Business & Comp.Sc
Our FAFSA indicated we deserve no merit award, we are 250k+ earners
A bit disappointed, but , on aid. Just publishing these stats for students there to compare & see where they stand for Villanova
My S got accepted to Nova in EA. Got into Honors college/Program in business. Was not invited to presidential scholarship interview
ACT: 36 (one sitting)
GPA: unweighted 4:00 and weighted 4.6
AP ~ 11 and all 5 and 4 in AP tests
ECA: Plenty and lots of awards
Did not see any merit scholarship. Have the Merit scholarship have all gone out to students? If we don’t get something, then NOVA is impossible for us to pay complete tuition.
I’m not sure Villanova is known for having much merit available? DD got in with honors and there has been no mention of financial aid thus far.
@Susanb33 The last few year Villanova released financial aid in March.
Thanks @am9799 . Do you know if any financial aid is merit or is it mostly need based?
@Susanb33 They have been changing their merit aid awards during the last 3 years. I am not sure what they are offering this year except for the presidential (and a few diversity named scholarships). I will not be surprised if they are moving to need only aid which I find problematic for schools with small endowments.
Last year my daughter was accepted EA for Engineering. We also sat and waited for “Merit Aid”. Villanova did not offer merit aid beyond the named scholarships, Presidential and I believe those Presidential candidates that interviewed and did not get it. What we got in the mail was our Finanical aid package in March was: Unsub Fed loan, 3K Work study per semester and the rest we could take out a Family loan from Villanova : ) lol for the full cost of the tuition. No thank you!!!
