If you demonstrated a persona of compassion and helpfulness, you have a great chance though, so long as your scores are in the range for admission. I wrote my Common App essay on how I volunteer for the autistic community at my school.

Some notable ECs are an environmental education program I created at the library; I founded the Science Olympiads at my school, as well as a Marine Wildlife Club that raises money for international nonprofits; I’m a language nerd; I interned at a university laboratory and won some awards (I’ve been a science research student for 3 years and won some stuff- not first though); I spent the summer at Brown University at an environmental leadership program; and I am the feature/layout editor for my paper (I also created two columns on mental health and science ethics). Oh, and I’m President of the FCCLA (Cooking Club)
