@michp12 saw your post on Cornell. Curious which school you are going to pick

@michp12 If you got into Cornell ED, why didn’t you withdraw your other apps? Isn’t that a requirement of ED once accepted?

Have you applied to Fordham? We know another friend who is at their school of business and thinks there are a lot of similarities. Your stats are very impressive–this is tough!

From Cornell: “If you’re admitted to Cornell, you are required to withdraw any applications you’ve sent to other schools and send your enrollment deposit to Cornell by the deadline in early January.”

D denied. Not unexpected, as her SAT scores were below 1300 (not good test taker, obviously). Otherwise stats and accomplishments right up there with everyone else with GPA, AP and honors courses, leadership, EC’s, community service and multiple sports. So much for the “holistic” review process…

Not sure she would have attended anyway as Villanova has a relatively small endowment and gives terrible financial aid. I suggest to all accepted who need financial aid make sure you do the Net Price Calculator to see whether you are willing/able to pay a lot more to go to Nova than other private schools you may have been accepted to. Many students are shocked when they see they need to borrow/pay substantially more than many peer schools. Just an FYI.

Otherwise, congrats to all accepted and good luck to all deferred!

I am sure you will get in when they release the RDs. Your stats are great. All the Best !!

I’m sure most of you know this but anyone that is deferred should definitely send a letter of continued interest. And update them with any new accomplishments, awards, etc. Good luck!

@Steglitz90 I have until January 17th to submit my deposit and I just got my financial aid appeal back today. I am going to Cornell since they gave me enough money now, but was waiting to see if I could afford it. Cornell said I did not have to withdraw until I got the appeal back, and I just denied acceptance to Villanova this morning.

Your acceptance at Villanova yesterday took a spot from someone who really wanted it.

I received my decision at 4:30pm yesterday. Accepted to VSB and Honors Program! I also was nominated for/applied for the Presidential Scholarship.

Out-of-state
White female

1580 SAT
3.86 UW / 4.35 W (9th-11th)
Several AP and Honors classes
Competitive HS, no class rankings

Choir & a cappella, leadership/officer positions, government club, volunteer work, NHS, family responsibilities, sports up to JV

Strong essays and recommendations

Not fair to say. Anyone who is accepted to more than one college and can only accept one offer “took” someone else’s spot. Everyone ends up where he or she should be.

You are wrong. ED acceptance requires the withdrawal of applications to other institutions.
